Chokers got really popular in the 90’s and they’re still quite popular today. Instead of spending outrageous amounts at the store for a simple choker, you can make one yourself for way cheaper.

Here are 6 unique DIY choker ideas that will save you money, and add a nice touch to your outfit.

1. DIY Leather & Chain Choker Necklace

You will need:

  • Patent (Faux) Leather (I used an old belt)
  • Gold Chain
  • E6000 Glue
  • Pinch Crimp Cord Ends
  • Clasp and 2 Jump Rings
  • Jewelry Pliers & Scissors

2. Battenburg Lace Choker

This DIY choker is absolutely gorgeous! It’s definitely not one that you’d wear every day, but it’s great for parties and fancier events.

You will need:

  • Your already stitched Battenburg lace choker design
  • Chains (mine come with a clasp closure, if yours doesn’t you’ll need one of those)
  • Jump rings
  • Needle nose pliers and cutter
  • Charm or cameo
  • Dangling charm – optional
  • Hot glue

You will need:

  • 2 30mm pearl beads
  • 12 gauge gold wire choker
  • 2 ball end headpins
  • 2 bead caps
  • E6000
  • a toothpick
  • heavy duty wire cutters

You will need:

  • Round nose jewelry pliers
  • Chain nose jewelry pliers
  • Wire clippers
  • Jewelry/super glue
  • 18 inches curb chain
  • Headpins (one for each pendant)
  • Spikes
  • Sew-on crystals in setting (I used 3 large round, 7 small round, and 6 marquis/navette)
  • Jump rings and clasp
