Dinner on a dime Mac and Cheese Ham Bake

Hello everyone I found a delicious recipe that my whole family likes, including my 4year old son who is a picky eater. I used one package of Kraft Homestyle macaroni and cheese, 1 – 8oz. Package of Smithfield Ham, and a salad.

First start off by making your Homestyle macaroni & cheese ( I used the creamy Parmesan and Alfredo sauce).

Bring to a boil 6 cups of water, add your noodles and cook till done. While you are cooking your noodles start your sauce in a separate pan. Place your cheese sauce and butter in the pan, add seasoning pack and slowly add 3/4 cup of milk till all are blended and melted. Drain your noodles and add to the sauce, mix well. Place in a casserole dish ( I used a 8 x 12). I then cut up a Smithfield Ham steak (8oz) into small cubes, you can cut up into any size that works for you. I mixed the ham into the macaroni & cheese and sprinkled the cheese topping that was included in the package on top of everything. I placed it into the  oven for 8 minutes. When time was up I let the dish sit for a couple of minutes then served with a garden salad and a sliced apple. I hope your family will enjoy this dish as much as we do. Here is a breakdown of what I spent:

Homestyle Mac & Cheese – from my stockpile $2.99 after coupon

Smithfield Boneless Ham Steak reg price $2.99 after coupon of $2.00 (SS 6/10/12- expires 7/31/12) final price $.99

Dole salad mix $2.59

Tomatoes (free from my garden)

Cucumbers (free from my garden)

Sliced apples $.31

Total cost before taxes $6.88. Meal serves 4 people. It took approximately 40 minutes from start to finish.

So there it is a quick and easy meal for under $2.00 a person that I am sure your family will love, oh almost forgot it is nutritious as well. Enjoy!
