12 Fun Lawn Games for Adults and Kids (Under $50!)
Playing lawn games in the backyard (or anywhere else, really) is such a fun way to spend time outside. The games keep you active and entertained, plus they help build teamwork skills and coordination.
The question is…what type of outdoor yard games are worth buying and storing at home? To answer that question, keep on reading!
Summer Yard Games for All Ages
Below, I’ve included a variety of games that both adults and kids will LOVE. They’re all available for under $50 (at least at the time of writing this), they can be packed up and played almost anywhere, and they each have a ton of replay value.
Get ready to find your next favorite game!
1. Ladder Toss
Ladder toss – also known as ladder golf – has been around since the 1990s, and it’s a ton of fun. Especially if you like a bit of competition! It’s a great game for building hand-eye coordination as well.

2. Corn Hole
You’ve probably seen this one before. It’s a really simple game that anyone can pick up and play, yet it offers hours of entertainment. All you have to do is try to score the sandbags into the hole on the slanted board.
What’s really impressive about this game is with the set pictured above, everything packs into a small bag that you can easily transport. Perfect for the beach!

3. Strike Ball
This is a game that I’ve seen gain a ton of popularity recently, but it’s been around for a while. There’s even a competitive league for it!
The game is pretty simple too: two teams go up against each other and spike the ball on the net back and forth until one team misses. It’s sort of like a weird twist on volleyball.

4. Bocce Ball
Bocce ball goes WAY back and I’m sure you’ve already played it before. It’s so old they’ve even discovered an Egyptian tomb painting that showed two people playing the game. Crazy right?
Needless to say, this game has definitely withstood the test of time and is probably one of the best backyard lawn games around. Infinite replayability here.

5. Frisbee Bottle Bash
This is a really simple game. You could probably even make your own DIY version if you wanted, you’d just need a frisbee, a couple of water bottles, and some tall stands.
If you buy the set, it comes with a frisbee and the stands, and then you just have to find two objects to place as targets.

6. Croquet
Croquet is another classic, dating all the way back to 1852. Definitely one of my favorite lawn games! Kids will love this one as it’s a bit like backyard mini golf, except the course is completely customizable.

7. Horseshoe
Horseshoe is a game I’ve only played a couple of times but I’ve always thought owning a set would be really neat. Playing makes you feel like you’re in the wild west!

8. Outdoor Floor Darts
Darts is an awesome game, no doubt about that, but holes and dents in the walls? Not so awesome!
With an outdoor floor dart set, you get all the fun of darts and more. You can set up the board wherever you want and even take trick shots from afar!

9. Football Toss
If you’re a football family, I think this yard game is a must-have. Especially if you have an up-and-coming quarterback in the family!
Even if you’re not super into football, this game would still be a blast. The set also comes with frisbees that you can try to throw above or below the football practice area.

10. Giant Checkers
This one can be played indoors or outdoors and who doesn’t love checkers? It’s a simple game for kids and adults, yet strategic enough to be played over and over again.

11. Kan Jam
Kan Jam is a game that’s easy to learn, but difficult to master. If you’re good with a frisbee, you’ll have a head start!

I don’t think I could ever get bored with a good old game of ring toss. There are so many ways to make each game different!

Conclusion
Although you could technically make your own DIY yard games or go with simple outdoor games like Hide and Go Seek, the ideas above are pretty inexpensive and most of them should last long enough to give you hours of entertainment. That’s a pretty worthy investment if you ask me – especially for the summertime!
