I am thinking I will pick up a couple of the benadryl for adding into our first aid kits. The premade kits never have it in there, but it’s a very smart thing to have especially if you’re off camping.
Am I just slow… can someone explain to me in greater detail how you get the RR at Walgreens? Do you have to buy the product first and then go buy more to get the RR?
I am tired and can’t figure this out.
Crystal,
You are NOT slow! Walgreens is a bit confusing and slightly overwhelming when you first start coupon shopping there. Chelsea was absolutely right though. You just purchase the qualifying products we detailed above and a Register Reward will spit out from a machine next to the register. You can then take the RR and use it to purchase anything in the store. Go check out our Wags 101 post for more info on how to master coupon shopping @ Walgreens: http://fabulesslyfrugal.com/2009/09/fabulous-coupon-tip-tuesday-walgreens.html.
I hope we get that $5/2 coupon for the bendryl, that is a great value and I am so buying Biore coupons from Ebay. I LOVE the pore strips!
I am so super excited that we actually got the $5/2 benadryl coupon! Woohoo!! Off to Walgreens to see if the RR will print!
you just buy the product or qualifying products and after you pay a register reward will print out from a machine right next to the receipt printer
Just a heads up on the Benadryl/Sudafed/Tylenol RR. The $5/2 coupon that came in todays red plum has the same barcode as the RR does, so if you use the coupon the RR wont print. Kind of a bummer. You can still use the $1/1 coupons that came in an insert a while back and get the RR, it is just a little more out of pocket.
Thanks for the heads up. I was there today and had the same problem. They told me that corporate was working on it and hopefully would be able to do the coupon and RR by the end of the week.
I went this afternoon and it didn’t work either. The manager was really nice about it and gave me the RR. I love my walgreens. I didn’t know why it wasn’t and he didn’t either. Thank you Sophie for explaining why.
My cashier and the manager were great as well and she generated the RR for my purchases. We actually didnt know why it wasnt working until I got home and really started looking at the RR and coupon. I didnt put that in my comment because I didnt want people to expect to have the manager do it for them when I know all stores are different. Someone had mentioned on another site in the comments that it may not work, but I didnt understand what they meant until I got home and then it clicked. It definentely is a YMMV thing though because not every manager or cashier will do this.
While I never encourage the cashier to do anything unethical or that makes them feel uncomfortable, in this case I would really try to get them to print the RR in the store. Even if you call the catalina company with all of your info, in this case they would only be able see you used a $5 coupon with the same bar-code as the RR and assume that is the reason your cat did not print. Because of this, they may not mail you your cat!
Corporate IS aware and working to correct the problem. Let’s hope it is corrected before Saturday!
I switched from my plan A to plan B once I read that the $5 RR wouldn’t print with the $5/2 coupon. Still got my Benadryl for free, though
What I did was:
Benadryl $4.99
Sudafed OM nasal spray $4.99
-$1/1 Benadryl
-$4/1 Sudafed OM
Total OOP: $4.98, get $5 RR
This is a money maker if you do 2 of the nasal spray. $1.98 OOP, get $5RR.
I have flipped through my SS-3/21 from cover to cover and do not see the $4/1 Schick disposable razor coupon. I only see an ad for them at Fred Meyer for $5.99. Did these come to the Boise area???
Bonnie, you are not losing it. We did not get it locally. Normally I mention it if we did not get it, but I did not have my binder when doing match-ups this week! So sorry to make you go through the trouble. That drives me nuts! Next week, coupon match-ups will return to normal so you won’t have to spend hours sifting through inserts looking for coupons we do not have!
I just wanted to chime in on the Walgreens promotion where you can get a free first-aid case with the purchase of two qualifying products. Forgive me if this has already been mentioned.
I bought two boxes of bandaids today, on sale for $2.99 with 2 $.50 coupons from the newspaper a couple weeks back, so $2.49/ea. Not necessarily a super deal on bandaids, but I had some RR’s expiring today and didn’t need anything, so among other things, I picked up some bandaids since my kiddo tends to go through a lot them.
The first-aid case is just a little plastic box and no big deal, but there are some nice coupons inside that don’t expire until Dec 31, 2010:
$1 Neosporin
$1 Band Aids
$4/2 Cortaid
$2 Bengay
$3/2 J&J first aid product
$2 Neosporin lip health
$2/1 Benadryl cream, gel, or spray
The bandaids were not marked with the sale price on the shelf, so I didn’t realize they were only $2.99 (vs. the shelf price of $3.49) until I was looking at my receipt later. I’m going to back for the Benadryl cream, and I’m hoping it will be on sale too. It is a qualifying item for another first-aid case with great coupons.
