Supplies:
Sheet moss
letters (you can use foam board, or cardboard and cut your own)
Hot glue gun
scissors
I saw some Moss covered letters on Pottery barn’s website; however, they were $79.00 a letter! I have to admit, they are absolutely darling, but not for the price tag. I went to my local Hobby Lobby and picked up some sheet moss, I have done this project with the regular bagged moss and it was so messy and took 5x’s as long, so if you can find the sheet moss that is definitely the way to go! There are different kinds of moss, a lighter green similar to what is on Pottery Barn’s website (shown above). Hobby Lobby was all out the day I went so I picked up the darker moss, It was $3.99 for a package. The day I went all dried floral was 50% off so I spent $1.99. Then, I went over Walmart and found a mini bi-fold foam board. It was an 12×18 sheet doubled it was about $3.99 as well, this will make 2 letters. The letter I wanted to make was an “H” so the foam board worked perfect for me. If you have a letter(s) you want to make and don’t want to take the time to cut and make your own, you can buy wood letters or paper mache letters for around $1.99 each at Hobby Lobby or most crafting stores. This is a little mess so make sure your doing this project where its ok to get a little messy!
First, either cut your letters or just have pre-cut ones ready to go
Pull the backing off the sheet moss
Put your letter on your sheet moss, measure an extra 3″ and cut around your letter
Hot glue the letter and place your sheet moss on top
Once it is all on one side of your letter, turn it over and glue the edges down. You will need to cut the edges at an angle so it will give you a finished edge
cut off any access and you are ready to display!
This letter cost me under $5.00 since I only used one side of the foam board.. sure beats $79.00! Happy crafting!

How much did the sheet moss cost? I just bought some that looks just like yours and it was $13. I got it at Michael’s. I wonder if I could get it cheaper somewhere else, but too bad we have no Hobby Lobby around.
