10 Easy and Frugal DIY Easter Decorations
DIY Easter Decoration Ideas
An Easter celebration is not complete without a festive atmosphere. (Let’s be honest, is any holiday?) I love to decorate my home but I hate how expensive it is to go out and buy decorations. It costs half as much just to MAKE your own!
There is a myth that homemade decorations are not as cute, but I am about to prove that wrong. I’ve decided to gather a few of my favorite DIY Easter Decorations for you so that you can have a festive, stylish home for half the price.
These are ones we’ve found from around the interwebs, but we’ve done a bunch ourselves, and you can find even more Easter ideas here!
1. DIY Easter Basket Centerpiece
You’ll Need:
- 4 picket fences from Hobby Lobby
- 1 unfinished square wood from Hobby Lobby (located right by the picket fences)
- Moss or green Easter grass
- 1 piece of foam from Dollar Tree (not pictured)
- Ribbon or ric-rac
- Wood glue
- Spray paint
All you need is 7 super simple, affordable materials and you are good to go. This project would be ideal to do with your children. How special would they feel to sit down at the dinner table each night and know they made the centerpiece?

2. DIY Napkin Folded Bunny with Easter Egg
You’ll Need:
- Square fabric napkin/paper
- egg
- marker
These are SO simple! All you have to do is click on the link below to follow instructions on how to fold them! Once you are done the folding, all you have to do is draw on the features! Each bunny can be completely unique!
For the finishing touch, drop an egg inside the pouch and use it as a part of your place setting. Everyone will be thrilled to see these awaiting them at the table. They are so cute, your guests might not even want to use them!
Another idea: You could use these as a treat for parties at school! Every child would love to not only get an egg but ALSO, a bunny! And the plus side is that this project is super affordable.

3. Easter Bunny Softies From Socks
You’ll Need:
- New newborn or baby cotton socks (You’ll need one sock per rabbit.)
- Matching sewing thread
- Sewing needle
- Scissors
- Black embroidery floss (thread)
- A soft pink marker
- Pom-poms, ribbons or other embellishments
- Toy stuffing
These are some of the most adorable sock bunnies I have ever seen! And the best part is, you barely even need to know how to sew. If you can thread a needle, you can do this!
Just grab some old pairs of socks, and instead of giving away chocolate, give away a sock bunny! You could place these on your mantel, your child’s bedroom, or even give them away as gifts!

4. Egg Topiary
You’ll Need:
- Egg – either paper mache or Styrofoam
- Ribbon – 3 or 4 coordinating ribbons (or you can do all one ribbon, too) – amount will be determined by the size of your egg, see below
- Glue
- Measuring tape or string & ruler
- Scissors
- Wood dowel
- Pot or pail or bucket
- Styrofoam or floral foam
This DIY Easter decoration is perfect for any mantel or centerpiece. Plus, you can customize it to fit whatever look you are going for. You can use all the same color of ribbon or different colors, sizes, and patterns! I love to mix it up and combine different patterns that go well together. I highly recommend trying this one!

5. Rainbow Bunny peeps Wreath
You’ll Need:
- Peeps Bunnies (5 Color Sampler Pack)
- 10″ Styrofoam Wreath
- Toothpicks
- Pink Burlap Ribbon
- Floral Pin
Okay, I know it sounds cruel to use something so tasty to make a wreath, but isn’t it adorable?! Peeps are SO cheap and all you need to do is buy the 5 Color Sampler Pack, the wreath, toothpicks, burlap, and a floral pin to make this beauty!
Try not to eat them all as you are placing them on. I know it will be hard! But wouldn’t this look adorable hanging on your front door? Give it a try!

6. Rustic Wooden Bunny
You’ll Need:
- Chainsaw
- Branch
- Twist Ties
- Glue
This one is on my to-do list for this Easter Season. Wood is so in these days and this is the cutest wooden bunny.
All you have to do is go on a little walk somewhere where there are trees and pick up any fallen branch that is big enough! (If you live in the city and don’t have to much access to trees, hobby lobby has wood rounds that would work just fine!) Then glue them together and wa-la! You are done!

9. Jelly Bean Tree
You’ll Need:
- A branch (it can be whatever kind you want! This one was made with an apple tree branch)
- Jelly Beans
- Hot Glue Gun
- Vase
- Hair Dryer
How adorable is this? Just like the Peep’s Wreath, this one could be hard to make because you will want to eat it! But, if you succeed and finish making it before you eat all the Jelly Beans, this would be the perfect centerpiece.
The best part is, this project could end up costing you less than $2. If you find the branch and use a hot glue gun you already have.. all you have to do is buy the jelly beans! This is a perfect, affordable decoration!
