How to Make Hard Boiled Eggs in the Air Fryer
I love hard boiled eggs because they are quick, convenient, and a good source of protein. Plus, air fryer hard boiled eggs is actually pretty quick and easy. Here are two tips for making eggs in the air fryer.
Tip #1: Use an air fryer wire rack
If you have an air fryer accessory rack that came in an air fryer kit or a skewer air fryer rack, I like to use this to cook my eggs in the air fryer. You will place the rack in the air fryer after preheating it, then place the eggs on top.
Note: This is optional. I have been able to successfully cook eggs in the air fryer without using an accessory rack.
Tip #2: Preheat the air fryer
To make this air fryer recipe, I like to preheat the air fryer for 5 minutes at 270 degrees Fahrenheit or 132 degrees Celsius. This way, the air fryer is already hot and ready when it comes time to cook the eggs.
When are air fry boiled eggs done?
The tricky thing about hard boiled eggs in general is that you don’t know how cooked the yoke is until you crack it open. At this point, it’s kinda too late to do anything about it. Plus, every air fryer model is different, so cooking time may vary for everyone. So, how do you make the best hard boiled eggs?
To help learn how my air fryer cooks eggs, I like to place an extra egg in the batch anytime I make hard boiled eggs for the first time in a while. When the cooking time is up, I like to check on and sacrifice one egg too see how the instead is looking. This way, I don’t have to sacrifice the entire batch.
Pro Tip: Make sure to take a written note of the temperature and time that you cooked the egg at once you get the results you want.
How long to air fry hard boiled eggs?
When I cooked my eggs at 270 degrees Fahrenheit or 132 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes, my eggs turned out with a slightly darker yellow in the middle of the yoke. For me, this is how I love my eggs. I think if I were to give it another minute or two in the air fryer, it would’ve been thoroughly cooked through.
So, you will have to play around with your temp and time until you find the perfect egg yoke consistency for you! But, air frying at 270F/132C for 15 minutes, will give you nearly perfect hard boiled eggs every time!
Do I need an ice bath for my eggs?
Yes, you need to still place the eggs in an ice bath or run the eggs under cold water. This will make it so the eggs stop cooking from the heat.
I like to, during the last couple minutes of cooking, prepare a bowl of ice water for the ice bath. When the eggs have finished cooking, carefully remove the eggs from the air fryer basket (I like to use silicone tongs) and place the eggs in the ice bath for at least 5 minutes.
Peel and enjoy your eggs!
How do I make soft boiled eggs?
As previously mentioned, not all air fryers are the same, so the cooking time for the yolks will vary. Be sure to take note of how the soft to hard boiled egg scale works for you and your air fryer.
First, start with trying these times at 270F/132C:
- For soft boiled eggs, try cooking the eggs in the air fryer basket anywhere from 9-11 minutes.
- For jammy eggs, set the timer for 12-13 minutes
- For hard boiled eggs, anywhere between 13 to 16 minutes should do the trick.

Love doing eggs in air fryer….SO much easier than boiling!
Just one question… do you use eggs at room temp or straight from fridge?? Am sure that would affect cook time?!?
I use eggs straight from the fridge. I haven’t tested to see if there is a difference. Let me know if you do and how it goes!
