52 Weeks of Pinterest: Week 46 – Waffle Cone Christmas Trees!

This year I wanted to go with a resolution I would have no problem sticking to! Then as I was pinning an item on Pinterest, a light bulb flashed on above my head. Ok, maybe not literally, but this great idea popped into my head. Those of us who are Pinterest users know that we pin hundreds of things a week, but do we ever do them? So I decided this year I would do one of my pins every week. At the moment, 52 weeks of Pinterest was born. Each week I will do something I found on Pinterest rather it be a craft, new recipe, organizing technique, or whatever!

This week we made these darling Waffle Cone Christmas Trees.

What You Will Need:

Waffle Cones
Green Frosting
Red Twizzlers
Colored Candy for the lights

Last year I did gingerbread houses with my girls and it was a N.I.G.H.T.M.A.R.E!  It sounded like a good idea at the time, until I went to do it.  I saw these adorable little trees on Pinterest and thought this would be a lot easier for the little ones to do and it was! They had so much fun and it was perfect for their little 3 and 5 year old skills.

First thing you need to do is frost your waffle cones with some green frosting, Nothing special, just spread it on the cones. This part can be a little messy, but where is the fun with no mess?

Next, peel apart some red Twizzlers to make your light strings and have the kids put them on.

Last up is the lights. You can use whatever candy you would like for the lights. I actually found Sunburst in the bulk food section at my local WinCo. They are chocolate covered sunflower seeds and are pointed which makes the perfect light. For real, look how perfect they are:

I spent less than $5 on the needed items at WinCo! A gingerbread house cost more than that!

This is the perfect holiday treat/craft to do with little ones because it’s budget friendly, easy, fun, and most importantly, tastes yummy!
