How to Stockpile Fresh Chicken
We always teach “get the best grocery deals and stock up”! So how do you do that when you get a great deal on boneless skinless chicken breasts? And what is a GREAT DEAL?
The last time I really stocked up, we got boneless skinless chicken breasts for $1.78/lb at Albertsons. I haven’t seen that price in quite a while now. Seems like the lowest price I’ve seen lately is $1.99/lb.
What would you say if I told you there was a way to get FRESH boneless skinless chicken breasts for $1.39-$1.59 a POUND!?!?
You’re going to have to wait until tomorrow (update: here it is!!!)… not only will we tell you how you can get super cheap and FRESH chicken, we’re hosting a giveaway… and it’s BIG. How does $500 in chicken to multiple winners sound??
FIRST – We want to show you what to do if you get a great deal on chicken. Because when we get a great deal, we stock up! That is how we save loads on our groceries! Here is a 3 minute video of the ever so lovely Monica showing you what to do with cheap fresh chicken! (and there is a hint in the video about how we’re going to get this super cheap and super fresh chicken!)
To recap, here are a few tips for storing cheap and fresh chicken breasts!
- Use kitchen shears to trim the chicken… super easy!
- Bag the chicken breasts side by side in a gallon sized bag. Makes for simple storage!
- Only need one or two breasts? Simply toss the bag of 6 frozen chicken breasts on a concrete floor (patio/garage floor) so the chicken breaks apart. Open the bag, pull out a breast or two, reseal the bag and put it in the freezer! (I took video of me doing this, but can’t get it off my phone!).
- You can also cook chicken (I like to do it in the crock pot), let it cool a bit, shred it or cube it, and the bag it. Great to use for casseroles, salads, and soups!
- Put some FREE salad dressing (Ranch or Italian – yummy!) or BBQ Sauce or a favorite marinade in the bad with the chicken! Then when you’re ready to eat it, pull it out the night before and it will soak and marinade all day long while it thaws!
I know some people bottle their chicken, although I’ve never done it myself! Make sure you come back tomorrow to learn how you can stock up on fresh boneless/skinless chicken breasts for $1.59-$1.39 a pound!!! {This will work for readers in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho!!}

Organizing Your Stockpile
Hey all you fabs, today I grabbed the camera and took some video of Monica’s thriving stockpile! We just wanted to give you some ideas of things you could do with your stock!
Last week we posed the question to our readers as to what they were doing with the abundance of super cheap cereal they got. You can read their comments here. If you have some ideas to add, please leave a comment on this post!
How Much Cereal Should I BUY?
Number of Cereal eaters: Monica 4 Cathy 8
x Number of days you eat cereal in a week: Monica 3 Cathy 6
x Number of times a day: Monica 1.5 Cathy 1
=
Your Serving per week Monica 18 Cathy 48 (Cathy rounded to 54 to compensate for her teenager)
DIVIDE by 6 servings in a box
= number of boxes used per week. Monica 3 Cathy 8
EXPIRES IN 9-10 months (40 WEEKS)
Number of boxes per week(Monica 3 Cathy 8)
times 40 = Monica 120 Cathy 360
- the number you have in your pantry already: Monica 20 Cathy 30
= Monica 100 Cathy 330
Divide this number by 2! Unless you want to only eat Post cereal for breakfast for the next 9 months! Monica 50 Cathy 165
Now you will just have to see if you have enough doubles and coupons for all that cereal. I only have enough for 20 so I will not be getting 50. Or maybe 36 to make an easy 6 transactions.
So there you have it! Remember that if the stock is low SAVE SOME FOR OTHERS!
