Easy DIY Picture Frame Gift for Friends (Free Printable)

DIY Picture Frame Customization

Two of my good friends just moved within days of each other. I wanted to make them a little something for them to remember me by and I saw this quote online that I thought was perfect.

So, I turned the quote into a printable, made some simple DIY picture frames, and put it all together. This is a super easy handmade gift that you can make for your friends!

Supplies for DIY Picture Frame:

• Frame – I LOVE these unfinished wood frames from Michael’s. They only cost $1 and you can do so much with them.
• Print (See my free printable download below!)
• Acrylic Paint (I used Delta Caribbean Blue)
• Sponge Brush (here are some on Amazon)
• Ribbon (find some on Amazon)
• Vellum Tag (find some here)
• Glue stick (they even sell THESE on Amazon!)

Step 1. Paint

Start by painting the frame. I applied 2 coats. Let it dry for a little while between coats.

Step 2. Print the Printables

While the frame is drying print out your printables. You can download a Pink one, a grey one or a blue one. It is a PDF file and has 2 on each page.

Cut the print out and glue it onto the chipboard insert included in the frame.

Step 3. (Optional) Sand

After the frame is dry, you can distress it with sanding block if you want. I like my stuff a little distressed. so I just ran the sanding block along the edges.

Step 4. Add Some Personal Touches

I decided my DIY frame needed a little something else so I pulled some stuff out of my stash. {I sold Stampin’ UP! for over 5 years so I have a large stash}. I got a vellum tag and found a cute circle stamp that I used to put on the tag.

You could also use a cute sticker or punch on the tag if you don’t have a large stash of stamps. You can find vellum tags at most craft stores in the scrapbook section.

Step 5. Place the print inside the frame:

Now you have a cute and inexpensive gift that you can give to your friends! This would make for a wonderful homemade Valentine’s Day gift or going away present.
