20 DIY Bath Bomb Recipes Better Than Lush

DIY bath bomb recipes for beginners

You Need to Try These Homemade Bath Bombs!

If you’ve ever tried the bath bombs from Lush or another specialty store, you know how expensive they can be. Sometimes it costs over $10 for a single bath bomb! That’s insane!

Now sure, the quality of those bath bombs is great, there’s no denying that. But, what if you could get the same quality for cheaper by making your own homemade bath bombs? Guess what? You can!

It will take a bit of practice and you’ll need to buy some ingredients but once you have the basic supplies you’ll be able to make a whole variety of easy DIY bath bombs for super cheap.

How to Make DIY Bath Bombs

So as I mentioned above, there are some common ingredients you’ll see being used in most DIY bath bomb recipes. These ingredients include:

  • Baking soda – Reacts with the citric acid to make the bath bomb fizz! Sort of like those volcano school science projects.
  • Citric acid – As said above, reacts with the baking soda for fizziness.
  • Corn starch – This is a common filler ingredient and according to wellnessmama it gives the bath bomb a silky feel.
  • Essential oils – These are what will give your bath bombs nice scents and healing properties. Read our post on why we love essential oils to learn more about them and where to buy the highest quality oils!

You’ll also most likely need to pick up some bath bomb molds before you get started but some people use muffin tins so it’s not necessary!

Also, these definitely aren’t the only ingredients used in bath bombs. But, if you can stock up on at least the baking soda (bulk on Amazon) and citric acid (bulk on Amazon), you can find the other ingredients pretty easily.

Maybe you should mention that the difference between regular food coloring and gel coloring is the intensity of the color? I had to search it to see if I could still makes these.
