DIY 3 Tiered Tray

Elegant 3 tiered tray repurposing project idea and tutorial

This is one of my favorite space saving ways to display food for a party or gathering.  These are so easy to make yourself and very inexpensive too.  You can create them for around $5 and pick colors to coordinate with your party theme or just make one for any occasion!

One of the best places to gather inexpensive materials for this project is from the Dollar Tree.  They have a large selection of plates, both stoneware, glass and plastic and candlestick holders all for a dollar.  I used some chargers that I picked up at Michaels.

3 Tiered Tray materials

Materials

  1. 3 plates (you can mix and match styles, patterns, sizes and colors)
  2. 2 candlestick holders
  3. E6000 glue
  4. Measuring Tape
  5. Spray Paint (if you are painting the candlestick holders).

3 Tiered Tray Measure Center

Step one

Find the center of the two top plates (both top and bottom of the plate) by using a tape measure and mark the center with a washable marker or something you can remove or erase.  You can paint the candlestick holders by using spray paint if you desire them a particular color.  Just make a few light coats over the candlestick for best results I would not paint the very top and bottom of the candlestick where the glue will contact the surface to allow for a stronger bond with the glue.

Step 2

Center the bottom of the candlestick holder over the top middle mark of the bottom plate and glue to the top of the plate. Allow to dry.  Glue the top of the candlestick to the bottom of the middle plate being sure to center it over the center mark you previously placed on the bottom of the plate and secure it.  Allow it to dry and follow these step for the remaining plate.  Allow to dry.

Step 3

You can now add arrange your refreshments to the tray.  These can also be used for jewely and cosmetics in a bathroom or dresser.  For party favors at a party, the options and uses are endless!

3 Tiered Tray with foodI have seen some these used in themed parties using plates that are the colors of the party theme.  You could also embelish the edges with draped beads or glued on sparkles, for boys you could glue or place on legos, action figures that matched the theme of the party.  Or just leave it as it is.  🙂
