Cathy’s Wish List…

Hmmm, what do I want for Christmas?   Why is that such a hard question to answer?  🙂    I usually give my hubs a honey-do list and he spends a day doing a bunch of things I’ve been wanting to get done that he hasn’t had time to do.  I sure have been blessed this year.  I’ve had the opportunity to go to New York City THREE times!!  And I have wonderful family and friends who really make life fulfilling.  PLUS I get to work with a team of fabulous women!  I have 7 beautiful healthy children whom I get to hug and kiss on every single day.

But alas, I’ll admit there are few things I’d love to improve in my house… plus preparedness is really on my mind.  So I’d like some items to help me with that.

Cathy Likes Techy Stuff

samsung galaxy s3

saumsung otterbox

After Christmas I’m up for a renewal on my contract with Verizon.   I’m super excited to get the Samsung Galaxy S3.  I got to demo it when I was in New York at BlogHer this past August and I’m excited to have one of my own!  I’m going to get myself an Otterbox case for it.   I think it’s just what I need to protect my investment!

I’m still debating which OtterBox series I should go with.  Anyone have thoughts on this?

lg solar powered wireless keyboard

A solar powered wireless keyboard is awesome to have… it’ll be great to not have to worry about replacing batteries in my keyboard!

logitech wireless mouse

This cool mouse is not only clean and crisp looking (my favorite color is red), but the batteries will last THREE YEARS!!!  I love logitech “mice”.  And I love the micro-precision scroll wheel on this one.

skinomi screen protector

Kindle Fire screen protector:  My friend Rachel, who blogs at Love My Kindle Fire, highly recommends this Kindle Fire screen protector.  It’s called the Skinomi TechSkin screen protector and she give is high scores.  I want to protect my investment… this is a small price to pay to protect my screen!    I think this Kindle Case will be good too.

ps – Don’t forget that today is the LAST DAY TO USE THIS KINDLE FIRE COUPON CODE!!!

Cathy Needs to Be In the Kitchen More

It’s something I’m ALWAYS thinking that I need to do better… cooking!  These are a few tools that may help me out in the kitchen…

oxo scraper kitchen tool deal

Dough Scraper:  Monica, the queen of kitchen tools, has one of these and I think it’s so handy!   It’s a dough scraper, but can be used to help w/ quick cleanup, cutting brownies, lasagna, and a whole ton of other things!  It’s got a 5 star rating on Amazon, with more than 200 reviews!

magnetic measuring spoons

Magnetic measuring spoons:  Who is the genius that thought this one up?  I think this will help my kitchen drawer stay tidy!  (thanks for the idea Passionate Penny Pincher!)

New Canisters:  The walmart specials I have in my kitchen are falling apart (the lids) and look pretty junky.  I’m ready for something pretty that will be a nice accent in my kitchen.  My kitchen is taupe and black.  So I think the red canisters will pop nicely.   Or do you think I should go with the mustard color?

What I really need, but it’s on the save up for list, is a kitchen table that will fit all 9 of us and fit in our kitchen!  Although, I think I need to put a bench on one side that four smaller people could sit on together.   The chairs we have (bought them from Fred Meyer about 10 years ago) are falling a part and the table we got at a RC Willey Scratch and Dent sale doesn’t fit us all!    Maybe I should just buy a bench and chuck the 2 chairs that are falling a part for now?  What would you do?  My friend said she got a nice solid table at Pier 1 and it wasn’t super expensive.    What do you think?  I need a nice long one… this one looks more like patio furniture!  Find me a good bench!

Check out the wish lists of Melanie, Monica, and Becky… more to come tomorrow!

…about the table…I have six of us…to be honest…we purchased our table from the import store..not super expensive, but not cheap either…the chairs are falling apart and the table looks like heck…whatever you go with…go for solid…invest in a table cover for the top (like the ones you buy for a formal table) and put a table cloth on top…that way it wont get beat to heck and will be pretty if you have people over…take it from me..I have 4 boys! LOL!

I’d chuck the 2 chairs that are falling apart and replace it with a bench. Save up for the table. How old is your oldest? Maybe they will be moved out by then and then you won’t really need a bigger one. Maybe the bench you replace the chairs with will work with the table that you will get down the road, then it won’t be a temporary solution.

    • Cathy of Fabulessly Frugal

My oldest is almost 17 years old and will be gone in 18 months. Good point abt the bench working later too.

  • Meridian Mama

World Market carries some dining sets that come with a bench. I believe you can buy just the bench if that’s what you want to do… I also think they have a furniture sale every couple of months. We got a couple of desks from there about 3 years ago and so far they are holding up well.

  • Drasa

We have six people and bought a world market table with two benches and two chairs. Mom and Dad in the chairs – kidlets and guests on the benches. Regularly seat 8 people comfortably. We bought the lugano (which they still have) that has a rustic top (hides the inevitable scratches and dings) and still love it. It is extremely solid and has been through five moves and bought it 8 years ago. Would buy it again in a hot second…love the benches for the kids as we don’t get the scootch scootch scootch of the chairs on the wood floors!

  • renee

Call me about the table. I will make all your dreams come true!!!!

  • Melanie

I have magnetic measuring spoons that are really similar to those pictured and I LOVE them. They are my favorite measuring spoons by far!
