Make your own Pineapple Whip!

Pineapple or Dole Whip is a pineapple sorbet with the consistency of soft serve ice cream. It is a naturally sweet and yummy treat served at places like Disneyland and the Dole Plantation in Hawaii. Here is a simple DIY version with only 3 ingredients! Lactose-free too! easy pineapple whip This recipe is super simple and flexible. And it really is pretty healthy too! You can try mixing up the fruit combinations, using different kinds of milk, and other sweeteners too. Frozen mango would be a great addition! pineapple whip frozen pineapple in blender I chose to use canned light coconut milk as the liquid in my recipe because I like the idea of a slight coconut flavor and I already had some in my pantry. This recipe is a dairy-free frozen treat by using almond, coconut, soy, or rice milk. I haven’t tried it yet, but you should be able to use good old cow’s milk with success as well. pineapple whip in blender

I put pre-frozen pineapple chunks in the blender until I reached about the 7-cup mark, and I ended up with about 5-6 cups of pineapple whip when all was said and done. Even for a Blendtec blender, blending that much frozen fruit can be a tough task. If your blender or food processor is struggling with it, I suggest mixing up this treat in two separate batches. You can add a little more liquid, if needed, but not too much or you will end up with a runny pineapple whip. If you don’t have a powerful enough blender or processor, you can also try to make it a friendly affair and borrow a neighbor’s or friend’s, like I did. Thanks, Jessica!

This pineapple whip is a yummy, healthy, and refreshing summer treat!

Total Time: 10 minutes
Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • 1 fresh pineapple peeled, cored and chopped or about 7 cups frozen pineapple chunks
  • 1 cup milk almond, coconut, or dairy
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Instructions

  • If using a fresh pineapple, cut it up and freeze the chunks overnight. Or you can purchase pre-cut pineapple, frozen pineapple chunks, or freeze canned pineapple chunks in an ice cube tray. (Many other fruits would also work well with this recipe!)
  • Combine the frozen pineapple, milk, and honey in a high speed blender (like Vitamix or Blendtec, or try a food processor) until it reaches a smooth, thick frozen sorbet consistency. You may need to blend it in two batches if your appliance is struggling.
  • For an authentic presentation, transfer the pineapple whip to a large plastic bag and cut off one corner to create a large piping bag. Pipe the mixture into 4-6 dishes and serve immediately.

Recipe Notes

Pour leftovers into an ice cube tray and freeze to use in smoothies. Or make popsicles!
