DIY Cookie Cutter Foam Stamps!! Super Easy!

I love stamping. I always have. The problem is, I don’t always have money to be spending $10 or more for a single stamp. There are quite a few cheap ones available at places like the Dollar Tree now, but they don’t always have what I’m looking for. So, I’ve decided to start making my own.

This project is perfect for those of you that love to craft but this is also a FANTASTIC project for kids! Try it out the next time you need a rainy day activity!

DIY Cookie Cutter Foam StampsHere’s what you need:

  • Foam Sheets (you can buy a pack of 20+ at Dollar Tree)
  • Cookie cutters
  • Scissors
  • Glue (I used Gorilla)
  • Stamping ink
  • Anything that can serve as a grip (I used clean Keurig K-cups but you can use bottle tops, scrap wood, etc.)

The first thing you want to do is choose the cookie cutter you want to use (I used Christmas cutters). Lay your foam sheet down on a hard surface and press your cookie cutter into it. Use lots of pressure.

The cookie cutter should leave a very visible print.

IMG_9319If your cutter didn’t cut through the foam, use the imprint as a guide to cut them out.

IMG_9324Depending on what you use as your grip, you may benefit from doubling up on your foam cutout. If your grip is super flat (like wood) you won’t need to do this. My K-cup had a small indentation and kept the foam from picking up the ink in the center. So, I glued a second foam cutout over the first one and it resolved the issue. (That’s why the next picture is of a different K-Cup and stamp image).

Press your stamp into your ink pad and stamp your image!
