Founded in 1957, Toys R Us was, for a long time, the place to go for all your toy needs. They had the biggest toy brands, the newest releases, and even their own exclusive Toys R Us branded toys. Everything was going great until other retailers like Walmart, Target and Amazon eventually caught up with them, and Toys R Us lost a big chunk of their share in the toy space. This lead Toys R Us to eventually file for bankruptcy in 2017, which hit a lot of people by surprise. However, not all hope is lost. There’s a good chance we’ll actually see a Toys R Us comeback in the near future. That's because just recently in October of 2018, the news was released that Toys R Us and the controlling lenders of the company canceled their plans to auction off the companies intellectual assets. In addition, by November of 2018, they’re planning to re-launch the brand with a few stores under the name Geoffrey’s Toy Box.
