52 Weeks of Pinterest: Week 8 – Glittery Clothespin Magnets

This year I wanted to go with a resolution I would have no problem sticking to! Then as I was pinning an item on Pinterest, a light bulb flashed on above my head. Ok, maybe not literally, but this great idea popped into my head. Those of us who are Pinterest users know that we pin hundreds of things a week, but do we ever do them? So I decided this year I would do one of my pins every week. At the moment, 52 weeks of Pinterest was born. Each week I will do something I found on Pinterest rather it be a craft, new recipe, organizing technique, or whatever!

This week, I went with a pin from our DIY Crafts Board - Glittery Clothespin Magnets.

I had to do this Pinterest find for multiple reasons.

• My refrigerator was a MESS with all of those free magnets you get on the phone books.
• This was a super cheap craft.
• My girls could do it.
• It had glitter involved.

Things you will need

Clothespins (I picked up a package of 36 at the $1 store)
Round Magnets (Package of 18 runs under $2 at Walmart)
Mod Podge
Glitter
Clear Protective Spray (I use Krylon for all my projects and its around $3 at Walmart or Michaels)

Get the kids ready, or just the inner kid in you and get ready for some sparkly fun.

The magnet rounds come with adhesive already on them so all you have to do is remove the tab and stick it to the clothespin. Simple and quick!

Next up, apply some Mod Podge to the “front” of your clothespin. Once you have done this, sprinkle your glitter on. Once dried, I repeated this step. I applied the Mod Podge over the dried on glitter and sprinkled again. I did this to fill in an gaps I may have left before and to double secure the first layer.

Once this is dry, spray with your protective clear coat. Again, I prefer the Krylon brand but you can use whichever you would like. This just helps keep your glitter from shedding so to say.

After this dries you are ready to hang up artwork, pictures, even dreadful bills if you choose. 🙂

This whole process took about 15 minutes. My girls had fun – I had fun. Now we have sparkly magnets. Could we be any happier? Probably not!
