  1. Similac isn’t even in the sale at all? wah, wah, wah…that was my crying baby…I mean, that’s me being a cry baby. Dang it, I was hoping it would be something like last year’s.

  2. This ad? Sucks. Doubles could make it a little better but doubt we would get them again. :(

    • I ordered some Dish Detergent from my Grocery Manager today and she said that there will be doubles (at least in Portland oregon) Sunday… maybe that will sweeten the deals?

  3. I think the only thing I’m picking up this week will will be the .74 dishwasher detergent… I love shopping with doubles so much it’s hard to pay for food :)

On another note… did anyone notice the Quaker coupon in Sunday’s paper doesn’t expire until 4/30/11… Anyone remember if there was a giant Quaker sale early last year?

  4. on the finish…how do you know you are getting a good deal on the coupons you buy off ebay? do you have another site you use to buy coupons? do you have a 101 on this? believe it or not, i’ve never bought coupons, eek!
thank you for all you do!!!

    • Here is an eBay tutorial. We also have a page with coupon clipper services, but I think they may be sold out of all the Finish coupons. Keep in mind that 10 coupons is worth $22.50 to you. Calculate the cost of each coupon and add it to the $.74. Then decide if it’s still a good deal. Let’s say the average cost per coupon is $.65, your final cost would be $1.39 per box… that’s $1.39 for 20 dishwasher loads. $.07 per load. Not too bad, eh?

    • I have a bunch of extra coupos…I am in Meridian Idaho and am willing to meet or mail them for anyone interested…..$8 for 20 coupons

  5. Cinderill says:

Are you 100% positive the finish detergent will be 2.99 next week? I bought 20 coupons from eBay and I was headed to the store for a rain check tonight. Unless I don’t need to? Btw: I paid about 10 bucks for 20 2.25/1 coupons. I thought it was a good deal for such high value coupon. In the end I will have paid 1.25 for each box of finish / factoring in the cost of the q. Not bad for more than a years supply of dw soap. And piece of mind that I got an awesome deal.

  6. I vwonder how much these cost at costco? Last time I purchased them they had a coupon buy one get one free and the container holds 100 and I am just now on my second one .

  7. Albertson’s doesn’t have full control over what Catalina will print out. If they do box tops only, then that was what General Mills decided to do, not the store where they’re printed. This time of year is hard on any of the grocery stores, business is slower, and ads aren’t always the greatest. If the grocery store had the choice of what Catalina printed out, they’d offer the usual $5 off next order one’s that everyone looks for. We know what the customer looks for but can’t always meet that expectation if the distributer isn’t giving a deal to make that offer possible. As an employee of Albertson’s, I know that when the ads suck its not because we’re trying to jip the customer. We do our best with what we are given, and I sometimes wish that the average customer could see what its like to be the “man behind the curtain” who’s trying to make the prices friendly while still making a profit. We are all about trying to help you save money its just not always going to be easy to make it all match up to the coupons to keep everything free.
And I also feel the need to respond to a comment made by a customer who came through my line this last weekend during the doublers ad. She came in with photo copied coupons and argued that we would still get paid for those coupons. For one, we do not get paid for those, and when doubling a coupon that was already going to be rejected, we would have lost $6.00 in each order. Not to mention, that money comes out of the stores pocket, which takes away from the labor money, and takes away the hours available to keep enough checkers on the clock to help customers. We don’t get anything back for the doublers either. So please be respectful couponers out there, and keep in mind that for every photocopied coupon you use, you’re slowly taking away someone’s job. Not just at Albertson’s, but at any retailer.

    • JB, this is a good reminder. I work in marketing. Not in the grocery or drug store industries, but it works the same way. For the most part, the manufacturers call the shots. Retailers can add on to manufacturer programs or try to run promotions of their own, but options can be very limited based on what the manufacturers provide and allow. Above all, promotions are about increasing sales, not giving away profits. It’s a crazy business.

    • JB, thank you for your insight and for helping us understand the process behind the scenes better. We have been seeing less and less of the deals and this ad was clearly disappointing. We’re sorry if you took it personally, of course that was not our intention. Sometimes our silly/playfulness may not come across in the print. :)

As for ethics, we have taught our readers that it is wrong to copy coupons. Period. We have published many ethics posts addressing not only this but being kind to cashiers, being respectful couponers, and so on. We support that the cashier would not take copied coupons. Not only do you lose money if you do, it’s illegal, and we fully embrace that. ( and

We are fans of Albertson’s ( and truly appreciate the company and its efforts to be a store of choice. The managers and cashiers at the store I frequent are very kind and helpful, and are great people all around.

We hope you understand we did not mean to personally offend you. Thank you for your comments.

  8. Is the wholly guacomole still on sale for $2?

  9. My carnation essentials coupon printed out as $2/2 (realized at the register). But I did receive a catalina alert that runs 1/8-1/31 that will sweeten the deal: Buy 2 Get $1, Buy 3 Get $1.50, Buy 4 Get $2 off next shopping order.

  10. Take the Albertsons ad to Walmart–They will ad match the electrasol!

  11. Facebook Ronzoni coupon is gone.

  12. I thought for sure there would be a big cereal sale this week. We’ve been seeing all the Kellogg’s coupons and Walmart has stacks and stacks of cereal.

  13. My Albies was already sold out of the Electrasol. I did grab an ad though and found the deal on the smaller square shaped ad. I guess I will find out how easy/hard it is to price match at WalMart. I will be in Boise anyone have advice on which WalMart is easiest?

  14. Cinderill says:

I have had pretty decent luck with the Fairvew Walmart. The accept competitors coupons and price match anyone on same items. Good luck!

  15. I have more finish coupons………$8 for 20 coupons if anyone is interested.

  16. Thank you for your website! I am new to the area and your info has been a blessing! From your info, I ordered (10) finish coupons from Coupons by DeDe…they came today and I got 10 boxes from the Overland and Five Mile Albertsons at 74c ea!! Thank you!!!

  17. “Oh where oh where did the Finish go, where oh where could it be. With it’s high value coupon and low sale price oh where oh where can it be?”

In other words can someone please tell me if there is a Albies in Boise that has it? If not and I get a raincheck will I need to warn them I want 14 of them before I try to pick them up?

    • Teri, when you get your raincheck, you’ll need to let them know how many you want. Maybe ask your grocery manager when you should pick it up so you don’t clear the shelves. Maybe (s)he could hold it in the back for you (like a special order)?

  18. I was just at the Albies in Caldwell I spoke with a manager there and he said that they have a huge shipment of Finish coming in tomorrow and he also said that there will be doublers all week. That makes me super excited! I’m hoping that the carnation instant breakfast will still be on sale! Sale + Catalina + Coupon + Doublers = ONE HAPPY MOMMA! HA!
