DIY Duct Tape Hair Bows
Make your own duct tape hair bows!
{Pin This}
When my friend brought 2 rolls of duct tape and scissors to let’s hang out because our husbands are gone night and we were making hair bows I wondered what in the world? As soon as she was finished I thought, BLOG POST! They turned out adorable!
Don’t get nervous by the length of this post. It has a lot of pictures, but these are so easy to make and only take a few minutes!
What You Need:
- Scissors
- Hair Pins
- Duct tape
in any color(s) of your choice. You can get these at Michael’s for $3.99. Use the 40% off coupon from Sunday’s paper to get them for $2.39.
Instructions:
First, cut a strip of duct tape about 6-8″ long.
Next, fold the tape in half with the colored side up so the middle sticks together.
Then fold the tape accordian style the long way.
Pinch the tape in the middle and wrap a small strip of tape around it.
This is what it looks like from the front.
Just 1 step left: Slip a hair pin through the back so you can use it as a hair bow!
If you want to decorate your tape, be sure to do it before you fold it.
Here’s what the decorated one will look line when it’s finished. If your decorations aren’t perfect, it doesn’t matter. Once you fold and tape your bow, you can’t tell.
Voila! You’re done!

my daughter is a freak about duck tape and I believe we have it in every color, like over 25 different ones we have neat metallics, tye dye, florecents etc….if you are buying it reg price at michaels use your 40% off coupons that come out every week for a better deal also walmart carries them and home depot nd lowes have good selections, we score huge (double) rolls at auto shows like the boise roadster show that was just here had a vendor that had all sorts of neat handy gadgets and cutters and brushes for super cheap I only paid 3.00 a double roll so like 1.50 for a reg!! happy taping:-)

I have bought colored duct tape at the dollar store before. Might be worth looking for there.
My boys LOVE duct tape! I’m amazed at all the things they make with it! Who would have thought that duct tape was such a creative toy!
My son is totally into making things with duct tape (not so much hairbows). He has made several duct tape wallets and sold them at school. He has made ties, a cowboy hat and more. He recently used duct tape to cover his ENTIRE outfit for school spirit day. Crazy kid! It’s lots of fun for him though.
Woah! you gotta post it online! (of him in the duck tape clothes) ;D
