DIY: 5 Minute Chocolate Frosting!
Yummy – yummy – do I love chocolate! 🙂
If you are like me – you find a ton of deals on cakes but not always on frosting! 🙂 I made a homemade carrot cake a year or so ago and have been making my own frosting ever since then! 🙂
One of my favorite kinds of frosting to make is the 5 Minute Chocolate Frosting! It’s simple, fast, inexpensive, and you likely have the items on hand in your pantry!

WHAT YOU NEED:
1 ¼ cups baking cocoa
1 cup butter softened
1 cup milk
1½ Tablespoon vanilla extract
4 cups powdered sugar
DIRECTIONS:
1. Put your softened butter in mixer; mix until it is creamy.
2. Add in vanilla, sugar, & baking cocoa. It will get VERY thick here.
3. Slowly add in milk!
That’s it! Now you are ready to frost your cake. It will make quite a bit of frosting and the first time I frosted a cake with it, I didn’t put enough on and had half the bowl full of frosting. The cake looked like I had to much frosting on it, until I went to eat it later. It compacts down, so don’t be afraid to frost the heck out of the cake!
I love to put this onto the Duncan Hines Chocolate Fudge Cake — double chocolate heaven right there. Maybe some vanilla ice cream on the side too, you know, to even things out! 🙂

How much milk?
1 cup
This is the absolute worst recipe I’ve ever tried
Oh no!! Did you use in date cocoa? I’ve heard of that turning recipes bad 🙁
I agree with you, there was something not quite right about it
I made this chocolate frosting today! Only needed 1/2 recipe for a single layer so I cut everything in half. However, I thought 1/2 cup milk would be too much for the 2 cups of sugar. Tried 1/4 cup (only had half and half on hand) thinking I could add more if needed, but it was perfect. The frosting was silky smooth and delicious!
