DIY Kitchen Sink Cleaner

I LOVE my kitchen! That is, until my normally shiny stainless steel sink gets covered in gunk and loses its shine. That’s when I normally resort to wiping it down with a wet rag because I’m too scared to scratch my sink with a cleaner that’s too harsh. Unfortunately, I’ve noticed that almost ALL of the sink cleaners I’ve come across manage to do some sort of damage so I’m left letting my sink look grimy even though it’s been washed down. Well, now you can have the best of both worlds; a clean AND shiny sink!

So here’s what you’re going to need:

Vinegar

Baking soda

Lime essential oil (an extract will work too)

Measuring cups

Washcloth

To create your mixture, add a fourth of a cup of vinegar to a half cup of baking soda (I started with a little less vinegar and found the mixture to be too dry).

Now, add about 10 drops of your lime essential oil. If you use a lime extract, be sure to add a few drops of olive oil to your mixture. The oil is what gives your sink the shine.

Mix everything up so you have a nice thick paste.

Now, use a washcloth to cover your sink.

Make sure you have a nice coat of the paste on your sink’s surface.

All you have to do now is use a little elbow grease to scrub your sink and rinse with warm water.

Here’s what my sink looked like before (yes, this is embarrassing).

Here’s what it looks like now! YAY!

What a great way to wash your sink without damaging your stainless steel finish! I love it! Thanks for reading! Be sure to share, like, tweet, and pin this post! 🙂
