DIY Skunk Wash!! Get Rid of that Nasty Stink!

This DIY came as an unfortunate event. We’ve been camping in our RV for a few days and the ONE night we decided to leave our Border Collie, Buddy, outside, he was sprayed by a skunk. This is the WORST possible place for this to happen. We are not going home for a few weeks and it’s hot outside which means, Buddy has to spend the hottest part of the day in our small RV. P.U!!!

Luckily, my grandfather had a remedy for us! So, if this unfortunate event ever happens to you, you know what to do now too!

Here’s what you need:

  • Peroxide
  • Baking Soda
  • Liquid Soap (I used Dawn)

Now, I did not take pictures of this process because I didn’t want to subject my camera to the possible effects of washing a dog that gets bathed hardly ever. But, the steps are self-explanatory.

Mix 1 quart of hydrogen peroxide, 1/4th cup of baking soda, and 1 teaspoon of liquid soap in a small bucket.

Gently pour the mixture over your dog to prevent the ingredients from getting into his eyes and ears.

Let the mixture sit for a minimum of 5 minutes.

Rinse your dog well once the five minutes are up.

If for some reason, a bit of the skunky smell remains, just repeat the process.

I hope this short and simple DIY saves your nose from the torture that is sunk spray!
