Ingredients:
2 cups water
1 cup distilled white vinegar
10-15 drops tea tree oil (for it’s antibacterial, anti-fungal & antiseptic properties.)
*empty spray bottle
*I personally really like the high output spray bottles vs. regular ones for homemade cleaning products. I purchased the one in the picture above at Walmart for about $3.
Pour water into the spray bottle using a funnel.
Now pour in the vinegar.
Add 10-15 drops of Tea Tree essential oil.
Gently shake.
Done!
Store in bathroom and lightly mist on shower walls after each and/or last use.

My favorite shower scrub is lemon juice and baking soda. Mix half and half caution it will foam up. Scrub with rag or brush and rinse with hot water.
Where do you get the tea tree oil?
Walgreens Sells it!! 🙂 So do most stores 😉
What section do you find it in, candles?
Not the fragrance oils by the candles – those oils are synthetic, useful for the scent but containing none of the antibacterial, anti-fungal & antiseptic properties. You need real essential oils. I find them at Natural Food stores…
Ladysaotome is RIGHT! You want to be sure to get real essential oils. I saw mine on the back wall of Walgreens, (it’s been so long now), but you can get them on Amazon, too!
If I don’t have tea tree oil and can’t find it can I substitute lemon juice/oil from a fresh lemon? I know lemons are great for sanitizing and cleaning other things but would it work to put it in this solution?
Here’s one for less than $7 shipped: https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B002RTV4Y8/&tag=beckfab/
What section do you find the tea tree oil?
At Walgreens it’s in the section with the bandaids 😀
Will this keep glass shower doors clean?
Before I read this, I sprayed my shower w vinegar/water mixture. The soap scum literally fell off. Now I am going to add tea tree oil , per your suggestion, and I intend on spraying my shower daily with this. What a time saver.
I really think it’ll work well for you! I love it!
Hi Becky: Do I need to rinse it off after or can I just leave it on?
I just leave mine on 😀
I just made the shower spray and look forward to using it!
Is this safe for tile showers? Specifically porceline tile?
Yes! It’s totally safe!
Usually tea tree oil and other essential oils can be found near the vitamins section (at Walgreens, CVS or other stores). Hope that’s helpful! 🙂
Please keep in mind that with those oils, you really do get what you pay for, and you are paying for synthetic oils with a lot of fillers, not actual pure oils. We’d love to talk with you about how to get the real thing! Email us at seekingwellness at fabulessly frugal dot com or call or text us at 208-907-OILS
I really hate the smell of tea tree oil. Can I add another essential oil to the mix to alleviate the smell? Or will that interfere with its cleaning capability?
I would add wild orange!
After use and/or continued use is there a Vinegar smell?
Just for about 20 minutes!
Can you use pure white vinegar instead of distilled white vinegar? Thanks!
I am pretty sure you can! I have only used distilled vinegar but they seem to both have the same cleaning benefits.
