DIY Room Fragrance!
This is one of the coolest do it yourself projects that I’ve done in a while. This idea actually came from my better half after he discovered my water beads. He told me about something similar that he saw that held fragrance. Now, I love room fragrance but have a hard time finding one’s I actually like. So, I decided, why not make my own?! You’re going to love this one, guys. Ready? Here we go…
Here’s what you’re going to need:
Liquid fragrance of your choice (I got mine for $3.00 at Walmart)
Mason jar
Water beads
Cheesecloth or any loose weave material
Twine or string
The first thing you need to do is decide which fragrance you want to work with. I found the one in the picture first and it smelled pretty good. Then, I went to the Dollar Tree and to my surprise, found a HUGE container of liquid fragrance (by the potpourri) that smelled even better! Anyway, once you have your fragrance, pour a bit of it into a mason jar.
Once I had the jar about a third full, I added my water beads.
I let the beads sit in the fragrance for a while so that each bead soaked up some of it. After about 30 minutes, I added enough water to fill my mason jar. My measurements ended up being 3 to 1. However, you may use more of one than the other depending on the strength of the fragrance you’re looking for.
Once your beads are full and are releasing the amount of fragrance you desire, you can cut a piece of cheesecloth to cover the top of the mason jar with. Once covered, use twine or any other string to tie the cloth in place.
There you have it! You’ve just made your own room fragrance!
I took it a step further put some of the beads in an old Icebreakers mint tin, covered the large opening with cheesecloth, and used it as a car fragrance! Once your beads begin to dry out, you can simply add more fragrance and more water and you’re set to go again! Isn’t that fun?!
I hope you’ve enjoyed this DIY! Please share it with your friends on Facebook and Twitter! If you really liked it, please remember to Pin it too! Thank you! 🙂

What in heck is a water bead?
Mary, water beads are these awesome little balls that soak up liquids you put them in. Hey are amazing! Here’s a post we did on them –> bit.ly/Px8AAA
What are water beads, and where can I find them? This is a great idea, because I don’t find fragrances sprays and room deodorizers that I like. I sthere a reason to tie with string or can you use a decorative ribbon or something like that?
Helen, you can buy water beads anywhere online; check out the link I left for Mary. You can also buy them at Walmart. They are a bit more expensive there but at least you’d get them right away. As for your tie, you can use whatever you like! I think your ribbon would add a nice touch! 🙂
You can also buy them at the Dollar Tree!
What does the cheesecloth help with? Do you have to cover it with something or can you just leave it open?
Thx!😊
