TracFone Smartphone Deal $29.99 {with awesome parental controls}

TracFone smartphone deal

When Mom It Forward (a blogger network) reached out to me to see if I was interested in reviewing TracFone’s new LG Optimus Fue™l SpongeBob SquarePants Bundle, I was intrigued!  I never knew TracFone (which is a no-contract, prepaid cell phone service) had the option of a smart phone!  They offered to send me a phone and a prepaid plan so I could test it out for myself.  Of course I said yes!

This particular phone bundle is built just for kids.  AND right now the entire bundle is on sale for $29.99 at Walmart, Target, and Kroger (retail price is $79.99).

What’s included in the LG Optimus Fuel™ SpongeBob Squarepants Phone Bundle

  • LG Optimus Fuel™ Phone (model LG 34C)
  • 12 month free subscription to the award winning NQ Family Guardian™ parental control app
  • Free SpongeBob SquarePants content
  • SpongeBob SquarePants earbuds

Note that the phone and plans are sold separately.  The average cost is $7/mo for the basic plan.  You can see more information on pre-paid plans here.  The cool thing about a pre-paid plan is that you will never pay crazy overage fees again!  Your child will also learn to budget the time they spend on the phone!

You can learn all the details about this smartphone bundle on the Parents TracFone website.  I’m going to highlight a few of my favorite things below…

TracFone4Although my kids aren’t huge fans of SpongeBob SquarePants, it’s still a cool bundle.  There are free episodes and games you can access.  And my 9 year old hijacked the ear buds right away.  I will admit that  when I first heard about the phone I thought it was going to be branded with SpongeBob SquarePants.  It’s not.  It looks like a totally normal phone, because it is!  🙂

This phone runs Android™ 4.4 and has all the features you’d expect on a smartphone… all for $29!!  One thing that I am super careful about in my home is what digital content my kids access.  All devices my kids have are set up in a way that they can’t just have access to everything.  That’s one reason none of them have a smart phone.  But when I heard this bundle included 12 months of NQ Family Guardian™ (valued at $34.99), I was intrigued.

Before I handed the phone to my kids I wanted to make sure this smartphone protection plan would really meet my criteria for “online safety”.   I am pleased to say that YES, the controls on this app are awesome.  I can see all websites visited, apps installed, text messages, their picture library, contacts, and I can set up schedules on the phone and limit or even disable the phone.  I can also see where the phone is at at all times.  It’s awesome.  For right now my 15 year old daughter is going to use this phone and she knows that I can see all of this activity.

This gives me peace of mind, makes her happy, and makes my budget even more happy!  This is definately a  family friendly and BUDGET friendly option for smart phones!  No contracts, no commitments.  Convenient.  Perfect for me.  This would make a great gift under the tree for your teen or tween or even younger if you wish!

Don’t forget you can purchase this SpongeBob SquarePants TracFone bundle for only $29.99 at Walmart, Target, and Kroger!

This deal is good through December 31, 2014 only!

And note that when you purchase a plan with a smartphone, you get 3x’s the talk, text, and data!

Even though I was given the phone, and 90 day plan, and compensated all of these opinions are my own.  I am truly impressed with this option for affordable smartphones!
