The Odd Life of Timothy Green {Our Sneak Peek & Review}

While Cathy and I were at BlogHer in New York City, Disney invted us to a private screening of the movie, “The Odd Life of Timothy Green.” We are so excited to tell you about it!

We walked through Times Square in the humid sweltering heat and arrived at the Regal E-Walk Stadium Theater.  At the check-in table we noticed several boxes of kleenex on the table. I asked the Disney reps if the movie was sad and we were going to need some tissues. The Disney rep told us there would be happy tears. So we each grabbed a handful of tissues.

Once we were seated (man that air conditioned theatre felt so good!), we got to watch the previews for a few upcoming Disney movies including Frankenweenie and Wreck-It Ralph. I am especially excited for Wreck-It Ralph. I think my little boys will really like it.  We also got to be the FIRST EVER audience to see the short (which will debut at the beginning of Wreck-It-Ralph) called, Paperman.  That was so cute and enjoyable to watch.  We loved it!

The Odd Life of Timothy Green

The movie stars Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton as Mr. and Mrs. Green. In the first scene the couple get the news that, despite their best efforts, they are not going to be able to concieve children. The scene was powerful and made our hearts go out to every couple that has every recived the news that they can not concieve.

In an effort to keep his wife from slipping into depression, Mr. Green has her write down the qualities their child would have.  In a fun scene, they write down qualities such as being honest to a fault, having a sense of humor, and scoring the winning point in a game.  They then place the papers with the childs traits in a box and bury it in their (beautiful) garden.

That night a big rain storm hit, and thus begins the magic…. the storm brings a boy, Timothy, into their life (who comes from the garden).

The movie reaches deep into the human heart as it shows the struggles of two new parents trying to make the best choices for their new child.   All parents want the best for their children!  But sometimes we have to learn through trial and error what the best thing is.  And that is the emotional thing about this movie.

We walked away from this movie with greater love and appreciation for our own children, and feel so grateful to be mothers to our little ones.  This movie brought many laughs and yes, even tears.   The Disney rep was right, and those tissues came in handy!

Here’s a sneak peek… the movie comes out Wednesday August 15th!

Thank you Disney, for the opportunity to see this heartwarming movie!

What do you think, will you go see it?
