The Most Meaningful Christmas Gift I Ever Gave {You Can Make One Too!}

When I posted about the easy popcorn craft on Sunday, I mentioned I was not exactly the crafty type. A friend of mine called and reminded me about the crafts I made one year as Christmas presents (yes, I said “I made” and “craft” in the same sentence- I’m just as shocked as you). Amber is to craft, as oil is to water, so if I can make this easy craft, so can you.

Supplies:

A block of wood
A vinyl saying (or a friend with a Cricut to make you one!)
Sandpaper
Paint (any color)
Mod Podge

Use a Hobby Lobby coupon or a Michael’s couponto save up to 50% off your supplies!

Directions:

Paint the block of wood any color.
Sand the edges.
Apply the vinyl.
Apply the Mod Podge.
Let dry.
Tie a twine-type thing around to make it pretty!

Of all the gifts I’ve given through the years, these have been my favorite. I LOVE that saying and I LOVE the friends I gifted these too. Made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, as I hope it did when they received them!

What a great project! And I can already think of variations – even just printing on nice paper and putting in a frame for the *really* craft/time challenged! Or going to one of the gazillion paint-your-own pottery places – a trivet or maybe a large mug would be great for this. Or cross-stitch (or embroidery) for the more craft-enabled among us! Or glass etching, or….

Sorry, heading to Michael’s now! With coupons *grin*

I think I could actually make these, lol! I am not crafty at all either. Love the saying on yours! 🙂

Dumb question probably….but mod podge, can you get that at most stores?? (Never heard of it 😉 ) and, how do you create vinyl sayings with the circuit? Could you use paper??

I clicked on the cricut link thinking there might be a good deal but it’s a link to bacon on Amazon. I laughed so hard, you ladies made my day!
