Restaurant.com: 80% Off!

Restaurant.com Weekly Promo Offer 600 X 400

This is How We Save at Restaurants…

Save 80% on Restaurant.com Gift Certificates with coupon code SALE at checkout, now thru 12/31/11.

When you go to the restaurant to use your certificate, your total bill will need to be at a specified minimum amount and you are required to pay 18% gratuity. Be sure to read the fine print for each offer, not all offers have the same terms.

SCENARIO:
$35.00 total bill (if it’s just the two of you, you can splurge and get dessert or an appetizer)
+ 6.30 (18% Gratuity) = $41.30
– $25.00 (Restaurant.com gift certificate)
= $16.30
+ $2.00 (the cost of the gift certificate)
= $18.30 for a nice dining experience!

I have a question. It says gratuity added prior to discount. Does that mean you only have to spend $30 on the bill and add the $5.40 gratuity to equal over $35?

Sorry it took so long to get back to you! We emailed Restaurant.com to get their official answer and we finally got the answer for you: “Restaurant.com provides a marketing service for restaurants. Gift certificates are sold on Restaurant.com to specific restaurants that would like more business. By being on Restaurant.com not only do they receive nationwide exposure but also more customers. All gift certificates to restaurants have a minimum purchase amount that you will need to spend at the restaurant in order to use the certificate. The restaurant does not make a profit from the certificate value. For this reason, there is a minimum purchase and other restrictions. Customers pay less than the certificate value so that they may save money and try a different restaurant. For example if you are using a $25 gift certificate at a restaurant and the minimum purchase amount is $35, you pay the difference of $10 plus the tax and tip. If you have any other questions or concerns, please email me so I may further assist you.”
