Thanksgiving on the Cheap – The $2.56 Side

Thanksgiving is quickly approaching!  And I don’t know about you, but one of our family traditions is having this side dish at Thanksgiving Dinner.  Yum!

Lucky for Albertsons NW shoppers, you can make this side dish for $2.56 thanks to the Albertsons sale and coupons!  Here is how it works:

All of the items you need for this dish are a part of the Instant Savings Spotlight at Albertsons through Tuesday November 9th.  When you purchase 10 participating items, you’ll receive $5.00 instant savings.  I only need 4 items if I want to make enough to serve 8 for my side dish, since we’ve got a larger crowd, I’m going to “double” the ingredients! I will still need to purchase some extra filler items.

(3) cans of Albertsons Cream of Chicken Soup (filler)
(2) cans of Albertsons Cream of Mushroom Soup
(4) cans of Green Giant Green Beans (do you like fancy cut for this side dish?)
(1) can French’s French Fried Onions (because I think 1 can will be enough for my double recipe)

Receive $5.00 instant savings
DOUBLE (1) $.50/1 French’s French Fried Onions printable coupon or from the 9/12 SS or 11/7 SS
Final Price: $4.50 for a double dose of a yummy Thanksgiving side (plus a few extra cans of soup!)

Have you ever made this dish? Here is the recipe!

Classic Green Bean Casserole

1 Can Cream of Mushroom Soup
2 Cans Green Beans
Dash of Pepper
French Fried Onions

Stir together soup, beans, pepper, and 2/3 c of the onions. Place in a 1.5 quart casserole dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes, stir, and place desired amount of onions on top. Bake for 5 minutes more (or until onions are golden brown). I often make this on the stove with just the green beans and soup and a side with an every day dinner.
