Ingredients

  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 1/3 cup cider vinegar
  • 1 (4 ounces) tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 1 (12 ounce) can or bottled root beer (do not use diet root beer)
  • 4 lbs boneless pork shoulder roast
  • 12 buns

Instructions

  1. In a slow cooker, mix everything together except the pork.
  2. Add the pork, stir well, and cover.
  3. Cook on low for 8-10 hours.
  4. An hour or two before it is done shred the pork with two forks in the slow cooker.
  5. Mix well. The sauce will be a little runny but the longer you let the meat sit the more it will soak up the juices.
  6. Serve on hamburger buns.
