If you are looking for a great addition to your Fourth of July celebrations then look no further!  This Red, White, and Blue Salad is not just easy to make, but it is also beautiful and so delicious.  If you prefer to make your candied nuts from scratch then we have a wonderful candied nuts recipe that is too good not to try, but I will warn you they are addictive!  You can also make an easy homemade poppy seed dressing recipe to top this beautiful salad off.  If poppy seed dressing is not your favorite then don’t be afraid to use a beautiful vinaigrette which will also let the berries shine.  My biggest hint for making this salad is to make sure you pat the berries dry after washing them.  If your family is as busy as mine than you’ll be glad to know this is a fantastic salad option to take on the go as well!  You can easily pack this salad up in individual containers or even divide the ingredients into mason jars to have them ready on your way out the door.  If you decide to use this recipe to make individual mason jar salads be sure to start out by portioning out your dressing into the bottom of your jars.  You will then want to add the blueberries, spinach, and strawberries in layers before sprinkling the coconut on top.  When you are ready to eat you will just shake and remove the lid to enjoy!  As with any recipe you can make this one your own and tweak it to your liking.  My sister loves the freshness of the fresh berries in this salad, but is not a fan of the coconut so when she makes it she just omits the coconut completely.  You could also serve this at a party with the coconut on the side or even deconstructed a bit if you are worried about your guests preferences!

  • 4 Cups spinach
  • 1 Cup sliced strawberries
  • 1/2 Cup blueberries
  • 1/4 Cup candied pecans
  • 1 Tablespoon unsweetened coconut
  • 1/ 2 Cup poppy seed dressing


  1. In a large bowl combine spinach leaves, berries, nuts and coconut.
  2. Serve with a poppy seed dressing or vinaigrette.
