Popovers… Are Delicious!

Chicago Metallic Non Stick 6-Cup Popover Pan

Popovers are a family favorite at our Thanksgiving Table.  I have tried several recipes over the years and this is my favorite:

1 1/4 Cup Flour
1/4 Teaspoon Salt
1 1/4 Cup Milk (I use 2%)
3 Eggs
1 Tablespoons Melted Butter
2 Tablespoons butter, cut into 6 even pieces


Coat the popover pan with nonstick cooking spray (I use Pam). Preheat oven to 400 degrees and set rack in the middle of the oven to preheat the popover pan for about 2 minutes.

Blend flour, salt, eggs, milk, and melted butter (I use a Blendtec) until the mixture is the consistency of heavy cream. Batter should be used at room temperature.

Place 1 small piece of butter in each cup and place in preheated oven until butter is nice and bubbly (about 1 minute).

Fill each cup half full with batter and bake 20 minutes.  Reduce temperature to 300 and continue baking 20 minutes.

Makes 6 popovers.

Popovers are best right from the oven.  I like to serve them with raspberry jam. 😉

  • Is there a different pan that I can use for this recipe…….I don’t have a popover pan and really want to make these for Thanksgiving (I’m going to make a tester batch this week to see if the family likes them)…..fingers crossed that they will 🙂 …..I hope that I can use a different pan these look delicious 🙂

  • Yep, also wondering about using muffin tins? Not sure I want to go invest money in popover pans.

  • I only have one pop-over pan, but more than 6 family members. How do you keep your popovers warm until you have enough for everyone?

  • I have grown up with ‘popovers’, and not have popover tins is no tragedy, as my family never had such a thing either. Just use a muffin pan, a square pan or a rectangle pan and cut into smaller sizes, use what ever you have! Don’t let not having a ‘popover’ pan stop you from enjoying these European dinner treats!
