Little Smokies

What are you doing with all of your Sweet Baby Ray’s bbq sauce now that bbq season has passed?  Here’s an idea for an appetizer that only takes 5 min. of preparation and about an hour to cook.

Buy a package of little smokies and dump it into a crock pot.  Pour some bbq sauce over it, stir it up, and let it sit and get hot.  Make sure you have toothpicks to serve them with and you’re good to go!  These are great appetizers for holiday parties.  You can also wrap them in Pillsbury crescent dough and make baby pigs in blankets.

(Amber here) This is what our family does with Little Smokies:

1 jar (16 oz.) grape jelly
1 bottle (24 oz.) ketchup
2-3 pkg. beef little smokies

Mix all ingredients in crock pot and cook on low for 1-2 hours. Serve hot as hors d’oeuvres with toothpicks.

I could seriously eat an entire package by myself!

  • when I was at safeway recently they were sampling some meatballs cooked in a sauce that was a can of cranberry jelly sauce and a bottle of heinz chili sauce. The recipe is on the Heinz bottle it says ultimate meatballs or something like that. they were great I bought a few bottles to have on hand since we have lots of frozen meatballs and usually just put them in spaghetti
