How to Make Applesauce

Making your own applesauce is so easy. This homemade applesauce can be made in less than 20 minutes. The best varieties of apples for a good apple sauce are; Empire, Gala, Braeburn, Jonagold, or McIntosh.
4 apples – peeled, cored and chopped
3/4 cup water
1/4 cup white sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Core and peel your apples. This is my favorite tool for coring and peeling apples.
In a saucepan, combine apples, water, sugar, and cinnamon.
Cover, and cook over medium heat for 15 to 20 minutes, or until apples are soft.
Blend in your blender for about 15 seconds. Serve warm or chill and serve.
NOTE: You can easily decrease the amount of sugar and omit the cinnamon if you want a healthier applesauce. If you are going to store for a while it will keep longer with the sugar in it.

You don’t mention about the brown sugar.
You add it the same time you add the white sugar.
Made this for my 14month granddaughter to help get over a bout of diarrhoea. She loved it on its own and swirled in yoghurt. Another hit but then there isn’t much she doesn’t like 😁 Many thanks for the recipe quick and easy
Awesome, so glad you found us Ornella! 🙂
Can you freeze it if you don’t want to use it all straight away
Hi Pammy! I’ve never tried freezing applesauce, but I’m sure that could work since people freeze things like baby food all the time! Let us know how it goes!
Awesome recipe! Love it. I made it with both brown and white sugar, the first time I made it. This time, I’m using splenda, since I need to cut down on my sugar intake.s
OK, taste test is in. Brown sugar really gives great flavor, but it’s good with splenda.
Thanks for the tip!!
