Hidden Surprise Easter Egg Treats Recipe

You will want to use the plastic eggs that are about 3 inches long and 2 inches wide for your molds. These eggs are bigger than actual eggs. You don’t have to have 12 of them as long as you can work quickly enough with what you’ve got. If the cereal mixture cools completely, it is harder to get the egg halves and decorations to stick. Mine cooled a bit too much since I kept stopping to take pictures, so some of the eggs did not stick together very well. I had to really pinch the seams closed on them, but it still was fun and worked out well enough!

You will probably need to grease your fingers a few times while forming the egg treats in order to avoid a sticky mess. I actually used coconut oil on my fingers and it worked pretty well.

It helps to have some helping hands for making the eggs so you can try to get the treats formed and assembled before the cereal mixture cools too much. I got exactly 12 large Rice Krispies treat eggs with this recipe. So nice when things work out perfectly, although I would’ve had no problem figuring out what to do with leftovers.

My kids’ favorite part is putting the candy into the eggs. 🙂 Well, and eating them too, of course. We used Easter-colored milk chocolate M&M’s and Starburst jelly beans for our candy filling and as decorations. I have not tried it yet, but I bet these eggs would be really good with peanut butter rice crispy treats too!
