Easy Red, White & Blue Strawberries

I’m all about simple, and when I put my 5-yr-old in charge of something and it turns out just fine, you know it’s easy enough!

  1. Melt 12 ounces of white chocolate chips in a microwave according to the package directions (make sure the container and the berries are dry; even a little moisture will alter the texture of the candy).
  2. One at a time, dip strawberries into the chocolate and then into blue sugar.
  3. Set them to harden on waxed paper.
  4. Makes 35 to 45 decorated berries.

  • Where do you find the blue sugar at? I’d love to try making these today for my bbq tomorrow!!

    • I found some at Albies in the baking section!

    • I make my own using powdered food coloring and regular granulated sugar or sugar in the raw if I want the sugar to be bigger then the granulated……just made these with my neice and nephew…..one is 2 the other 3…..they loved making them but they decided to forgo strawberries and stick their hands in the melted chocolate and eat it off of themselves…..they even dipped their hands in the sugar…….and sprinkles….I also used blue sprinkles on some and blue sugar on others…they loved it and so did I the strawberries that we were able to make ended up very delicious…..I will definently make these again with them.

  • I tried making these today, but the chocolate kept oozing onto the wax paper when they were cooling. I think I need a 2 year old to show me how!!! Actually I think it was just too hot of a day for the chocolate to harden. Maybe I should freeze the berries first. My kids werte happy, since they weren’t pretty enough for Fourth of July company, they got to eat them all!

    • let the chocolate cool just a minute or two before dipping, then hold the berry up to let it drip off. Hold it for about 30 seconds before you place it on the wax/parchment paper. It’ll squish a little but not as much.

  • These look yummy. I am always up for fruit dipped in chocolate! I ordered Strawberries from Zaycon so will have to set aside a few for this yummy recipe!

  • I dip them in yogurt or sour cream and then the sugar. At least then I feel like I am making it a little healthier. The blue sugar, though, is a great idea!
