Double Chocolate Butter Cookies

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp. almond extract
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
  • 3/4 cup mini chocolate chips (or however much you like) You could also leave these out if you wanted to or didn't have any on hand.


  1. Combine sugar, buter, egg yolk, and almond extract in a large mixing bowl. Beat about 2-3 minutes until light and fluffy. Slowly add in flour and coca until well mixed. Shape into balls or squares and place 1 inch apart on baking sheet. (I made balls and then added the criss cross with a fork but you can do it however you like). Bake at 375 degrees on ungreased baking sheet for 7-9 minutes or until set. Cool completely.
