Nielsen Homescan

Neilsen Homescan is currently accepting applications for their National Consumer Panel.

Panel members are sent a small hand-held scanner. You scan the bar codes of the items you purchase every week and electronically send them the information from your scanner. (Wow, sounds cool!)
Why participate? You earn points for which you can redeem for cash and prizes. Plus, you can make your opinions count in this consumer research.  Sign up now to see if you’re selected as a panel member!

They also have a digital voice research panel you can apply to join.  Find the info here:

Our family has been on the Nielsen Homescan panel for several years. If you or anyone else has any questions, I can certainly give it a shot.

I signed up for Nielsen Homescan several months ago, and got a call a few days ago from them asking me to join, which I did. I should get my scanner and welcome kit in the mail in a few weeks! I’m excited to see what it’s like! 🙂

I got an e-mail saying that there is a scanner open in my area. When I filled out the questions it asked if I have a home phone (landline). We only have cell phones right now but I do have the internet connections that it says I need. Can you tell me if you need a home phone? Thanks!

The data is transmitted through the scanner over the phone. We have found that we even have trouble with our cordless landline and we use our old-school phone to submit most of the time. I don’t know if the cell phone would work for transmission or not.

Does anyone know if it would work with voice-over-internet phone service like Clearwire??
