My Menu Plan This Week

Instead of posting a recipe today, I want to do something different.  I’m frequently asked about the advantages of couponing vs. planning a monthly menu and going shopping only once or twice a month.

My reconciliation of shopping once or twice a month vs. once or twice a week is this: I can still plan my weekly menu and not have to go to the store at all unless I need produce, milk, or eggs if I want.  I will go if there’s a good deal but that’s all I’ll buy, which as you know, saves you major bucks in the long run!

So here’s what I’m making this week:

Monday – Tacos: tortillas, beef, taco mix, cheese, lettuce, re-fried beans, tomatoes, and sour cream.
Tuesday – French Bread Sandwiches: French bread, lunch meat, cheese, tomatoes, avocados, and Miracle Whip.  Side: chips, carrots, and apple slices.
Wednesday – Freezer Meal: Southwest chicken wraps.
Thursday – Leftovers. If we don’t have enough, I’ll make grilled cheese sandwiches or French toast.
Friday – Pizza Party (pizza and salad): pizza dough, tomato sauce, spice mix, cheese, toppings, lettuce, veggies for salad, salad dressing.
Saturday – Freezer Meal: Chicken Ole.
Sunday – Spaghetti with Garlic Bread: noodles, tomato sauce, Italian sausage, French bread, garlic spread.

Snacks: string cheese, crackers, yogurt, granola bars, and apples/apples with peanut butter.

Treats: Pudding scooped onto graham crackers  (try it, it’s awesome), or we can make cookies, popcorn, or cupcakes.

All I need to buy for this entire week is lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, garlic spread, and probably more apples.  We’re talking $12 max.

Obviously I had to buy all the food I already have for the meals I’ll make this week, but I didn’t pay full price for most of it.  During the week, when I am shopping deals, if I need produce I’ll just grab it while I’m out, which saves gas.
