Money Saving Tips: Free Summer Activities
Summer is quickly approaching and the sun is getting warmer and warmer.
Spending less money on recreation and entertainment often means you have to get more creative. But you don’t have to be Martha Stewart to come up with memorable activities to do with family and friends.
Here are 5 simple penniless recreation ideas that will be sure to put some frugal fun into your daily routine!
Instead of resorting to the typical [and expensive] “dinner and a movie” entertainment, sometimes just getting out and enjoying the weather while doing something active is enough to lift your spirits and keep your pocketbook full.
1. Have a picnic to your local park.
Pack whatever you’d eat at home in a basket and eat it outdoors.
2. Get out and play.
Get your kids or some friends together to shoot hoops, kick a ball around, play catch, hit the tennis courts, or just take a jog.
3. Head out to the beach or the lake.
Pack some snacks, sunscreen, and a good read and go enjoy a day or a few hours catching some rays.
4. Take a bike ride.
If you don’t have a bike, borrow one from a friend. If you can’t find a bike, check out some local trails and take a walk or a hike.
5. Go Camping.
If you’re not the adventurous type, try setting up a tent in the backyard or sleeping under the stars.
