Money Saving Tips: Cloth Napkins

Are you looking for some simple ideas to save money? We have simple solutions that you can easily apply to your lifestyle to save money!

You can save loads of money if you just don’t buy napkins and paper towels…instead use CLOTH NAPKINS!

If you use napkins on a daily basis, you could be spending an extra $5-9 dollars a month, depending on how many people live in your home.

I got a 4-pack of these beige napkins after Christmas and they cost me only about $2. So for even more savings, after the Valentine’s Day products go on sale at the store, look to see if you can find red or Valentine’s themed cloth napkins.  As long as you don’t mind that the napkins have a holiday specific theme, you will save even more getting them on sale.

I’ve used cloth napkins for years. Sometimes you can find beautiful damask napkins at garage sales and second hand stores. I buy only white ones and bleach as necessary.

My family has always used cloth napkins on entertaining events. At least 14 years ago i started using cloth napkins for everyday. My MIL has always used cloth everyday. We have a nice big box full . Lots of the white napkins that go with everything, but for most days we have 16 plaid flannel large napkins. They even keep your knees warm while watching tv and snacking. I use microfiber and cotton tea towels and dish cloths. Use those bath puffs of nylon for scrubbing pots and pans then run them thru dishwasher with a load. I use less than a roll of paper towels a month.

LOVE using only cloth napkins! My daughter loves that we have made some with butterflies, flowers and strawberries for her!

We use cloth napkins, and always keep napkins from take-out places. We haven’t bought real napkins for over a year, still have our old package, and rarely use them.. because we nearly always have a stack of 20+ napkins.. (And we dont eat fast food that often, our places just gives us handfuls of them!)

  • I have been using cloth only napkins for about 30 years and love it. i sometimes buy fabric scraps and make a few but mostly purchase at garage sales. it cut my trash SO much to stop using paper napkins and paper towels (that really puzzles people but i use dish towels). such a waste!
when the napkins become too stained for everyday, they become cleaning cloths.
    easy peasy

  • I started using only cloth napkins in the 70’s. when I am in fabric shops, i shop the bargin bins. if the colors work with my colors, I buy fabric on sale, cut it up, stitch the edges and have lots more ‘almost free’ napkins. they last years and years and then become cleaning cloths. so much less trash!
