Money Saving Tips: Almond Joy Oatmeal

Oatmeal is one of the cheapest meals you can make.  Here’s a tasty way to sweeten it up.

Almond Joy Oatmeal

Ingredients you’ll need:

1/2 cup oats

1 tbsp Cocoa Powder

1/2 cup water

1/2 cup milk

1/4 teaspoon coconut extract

1 tbsp shredded coconut

1 tbsp sliced or slivered almonds

Sugar to taste


1. Put oatmeal, cocoa power in a bowl and stir.

2. And water in a bowl and stir. Put in microwave for 1 min 30 sec (more or less depending on your microwave).

3.  Remove from microwave. Add milk, sugar, and coconut extract and stir.

4. Top with almonds and shredded coconut.

***You can also substitute a lot of these ingredients for similar ones***

For example, if you have some Nesquik powder, add that instead of cocoa and sugar.  You can also substitute coconut extract for coconut drink syrup.  The recipe is also still good without shredded coconut as long as you have the coconut flavoring.  If you don’t have almonds, try adding some almond extract instead.  Just use what you have on hand or whatever is on sale.

The idea  is to use the almond, chocolate, and coconut flavors together.

    I have been doing that for breakfast but with some nestle quick powder which the coco would work the same but then with a spoonful of peanut butter so it tastes like a no bake cookie but really not bad for you.

    Leave out the almonds and have Mounds instead. Sometimes you feel like a nut … sometimes you don’t.
