Mondays With Mavis…

You might be addicted to coupon crack if… You blog from the bathroom. 😉

I started this week with $23.88 in Albertsons gift cards from this transaction.  So even though the 2 whole chickens you see above came to $7.87 I didn’t have to pay to pay any money out of pocket.  I used the gift cards instead.

I was also able to pick up all the groceries you see above ($8.77) for free by using a combination of left over gift cards, coupons & “Round Up” savings at Albertsons this week.  10 boxes of Free pasta (I used $1.00 off coupons from the Albertsons coupon booklet) 6 Gatorade (I used $1.00 off hang tag coupons and had to pay $1.00 in tax) 1 Free Twix Bar (Facebook freebie NLA) 1 Gallon of Milk $1.99 (used a $1.00 off Milk coupon (NLA)) 2 Athenos yogurts $.39 each (I used 2 $.30 tear pad coupons I picked up earlier this year) and 20 boxes of Jell-O $.25 each (I used 20 $.55/1 coupons that were attached to the boxes).  My total would have been $8.77 but I used the my gift cards from this transaction and didn’t have to pay anything out of pocket. I now have a remaining balance of $7.24 left on the gift cards.

This past weekend was my daughter’s 16th birthday.  When I asked her what she wanted to do, she told me she wanted to stay the night in a hotel, go shopping at the mall and then go to Build A Bear with her Bff’s.  So that’s where we went. Build.A.Stinkin.Bear.

Also on the request list was Fat Burger!  Luckily I was able to score 2 free $21 certificates to Fat Burger a while back thanks to my Groupon credits.  I did have to pay $3.52 oop though.

And what’s a birthday without cake right?  I also paid $14.00 (Yes, that says fourteen dollars it’s not a typo) for 4 fancy cupcakes.  Ouch!

But really, the highlight of the whole birthday extravaganza was the free hotel stay.  What was so memorable about it you ask? Oh I don’t know… Perhaps it was the FIRE ALARM that went off at 3:30 in the morning.  Or was it the 19 flights of stairs we had to rush down? Or the fact that one of the girls stepped on broken glass and cut her foot because the super responsible parent in charge (that would be me) forgot to tell the girls to put on their shoes.  Or the highlight could have been when the strange Russian guy tried to offer one of the girls his coat… That was kinda creepy (albeit nice). Haha!

So, to make a long story short, after the Fire Department cleared the building and we got back inside, it was 3:44 am and I wasn’t tired anymore.  So I stayed up and get some work done.

In the hotel bathroom.  😉

Total Spent This Week $17.52

Total Spent YTD $1,058.42

But enough about me.  How was your week? What was the most expensive food item you purchased this week?
