Mondays With Mavis

With everything going on last week I hardly had time to do any grocery shopping. This past week was jam packed with blogging, gardening, shuttling my kids to their events, a half marathon, a neighborhood bbq, my in-laws coming for a weekend visit and a lobster dinner.  I don’t know about you… but I can’t wait for school to start back up.  🙂 I really feel like I have been slacking off from couponing this summer and it will be nice to get back to my daily routine.  Thank goodness I have a stockpile to fall back on.

I did however manage to squeeze a few shopping trips in last week.  Last Tuesday I headed over to Albertsons and picked up 2 gallons of milk for $5.98 and 2 packages of chips ahoy for free (with $1.00 off Nabisco coupons + a doubler) and 2 free doughnuts thanks to the Albertsons Summer Sweepstakes game.

Hot dog buns @ Fred Meyer $ .59

Fred Meyer $3.92.  I used the $1/1 Tillamook Cheese Coupon Found HERE.

Free Food and garbage bags thanks to Swagbucks!

Fresh fruit and veggies from the back yard.

Half a laundry basket full of red, white and blue potatoes, a stalk of celery and some more zucchini.

Sandwich rolls from Costco $3.35, grapes & melon from Safeway $4.31, Whipping Cream from Target $3.78, and everything else from Fred Meyer $18.67.

More free garden produce.

Lobster Dinner $10 (shipping fee) thanks to Groupon!

Wait a second… Lobster dinner?  I bet you’re wondering how I pulled that one off. 🙂  Well…actually it took a while to earn the free lobster deal.

My in-laws flew in for the weekend to celebrate my MIL’s 60th birthday and we wanted to do something special without breaking the budget.  I signed up for Groupon about a year ago and since then I’ve been slowly earning $10 referral credits.  Since I’m big on couponing and saving money… my friends are always asking how they can save as well.  One of my favorite ways to save on local activities and occasional restaurant deals to  purchase Groupons.

The Groupon referral program is simple.  Every time you refer a new friend to Groupon, you’ll earn a $10 Groupon credit you can spend on anything you want.  Not only is Groupon a FAB way to save money… it’s also a FAB way to earn a little too. 🙂

If you’re new to Groupon and want to learn more about their referral program you can go HERE to check it out.

I’m curious… What’s the BEST GROUPON you have ever purchased or received as a gift?

Total spent this week $50.60

Total spent year to date $872.28
