Today we will celebrate the National Black Forest Cake Day!
You guys seriously have no idea how excited I’ve been to share these recipes because this is my favorite cake ever! Have fun and Enjoy! 🙂

1. Black Forest Cheesecake Cake

2 (8-ounce) packages cream cheese, room temperature
1/2 cup granulated white sugar
Pinch of salt
2 large eggs, room temperature
1/3 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup cherry pie filling
Chocolate Cake Layers:
1 3/4 cups plus 2 tablespoons sugar
1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup Hershey’s cocoa
1-1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1-1/4 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
1 cup plus 2 tablespoons milk
1/2 cup canola oil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup boiling water
Cream Cheese Frosting:
2 (8-ounce) packages cream cheese, room temperature
1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 cup cherry pie filling
grated chocolate, optional


2. Black Forest Cupcakes

1 cup (150g or 5 1/3oz) plain flour
1/2 cup (38g or 1 1/3oz) unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 tsp bi-carb soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 cup (200g or 7oz) white sugar
1 large egg
1/2 cup (120ml or 4fl oz) full cream (whole) milk
1/4 cup (60ml or 2fl oz) vegetable oil
1 tsp vanilla
1/3 cup (83ml or 2 2/3fl oz) boiling water

1 x 400g (14oz) can/jar Morello or sour cherries
1 tbsp cornflour
1 tbsp caster sugar
4 tbsp kirsch/cherry brandy

500ml whipping or heavy cream
3 tbs icing sugar, sifted
50g chocolate, coarsely grated
12 fresh or glace cherries, decoration


3. Black Forest Dump Cake

two 21 ounce cans of cherry pie filling
one 16.5 ounce box Devil’s Food Cake Mix, unprepared
3/4 cup unsalted butter (1 and 1/2 sticks), melted
one 12.8 ounce jar of prepared hot fudge, warmed slightly according to directions on jar


4. Black Forest Ice Cream Cake

15.25 oz box chocolate cake mix
8 oz cream cheese, room temperature
1/2 cup sugar
1/8 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
16 oz Cool Whip, thawed, divided
21 oz can Cherry Lucky Leaf pie filling
chocolate sundae sauce, for topping
maraschino cherries, for topping


5. Black Forest Gateau

For the Dark Chocolate Cake:
2 ½ cups (360 g) plain flour
⅔ cup + 3 tbsp (40 g ) dutch processed cocoa powder
2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp baking soda
Pinch of salt
2 cups (450 g) caster sugar
2 large eggs, at room temperature
1⅓ cup sour cream, at room temperature
½ cup (100 g / one stick) butter, melted
⅔ cup + 3 tbsp boiling water
For the Cherries:
500 g (16 oz) whole cherries, pitted
½ cup kirsch liqueur
½ cup caster sugar
For the Dark Chocolate Ganache:
100 g (3.5 oz) dark chocolate
½ cup thickened cream
2 tbsp unsalted butter
For the Mascarpone Cream Frosting:
500 g (17.5 oz) mascarpone cheese
6-8 tablespoons icing sugar
⅔ cup + 3 tablespoons cup thickened cream
For Decoration:
Fresh cherries, raspberries, blueberries and red currants
Icing sugar for sprinkling
