Make Breakfast Happen!
Make Breakfast Happen So Kids Can Be Hungry For More!
Have you ever had to deal with a hungry child? I have! Many times, in fact. My kids get pretty ornery and have more meltdowns and fits when they’re hungry. I try to feed them at regular times during the day in order to prevent most of those “hangry” times.
Hey, I get pretty out of sorts myself when I’m hungry! It definitely isn’t the best time for me to try to learn something or play well with others. Right here in our own country, in our own cities, we have kids that are going to school without breakfast and they don’t have adequate food at home on a regular basis.
Check out these statistics:
- 1 in 5 children in America live in household without consistent access to adequate food.
- 10 million children, nearly half of eligible children do not receive free or reduced price school breakfast.
- 3 out of 5 K-8 public school teachers report regularly seeing students coming to school hungry.
I think we’ve probably all heard this before, but like they say, breakfast is the most important meal of the day! We can all help! That’s why we’ve decided to support this cause and share the opportunity with all of you! There is a program called Hunger Is and they have partnered with Albertsons to focus on expanding breakfast programs, to help provide children with a better start to their day.
Helping is super easy! Just by purchasing participating brands/products from your local Albertsons store, you can help support this worthy cause through the national Hunger Is campaign. Help with the childhood hunger issues right here in America!
Two easy ways to help:
- Purchase participating items – look for tags in store.
- Donate at the register.
For every participating item purchased in September 2016, $0.10 goes back to your local market, up to $1M nationally! I think it is pretty cool that every donation goes right back to your local market! These are products that you may already plan to buy too, so just make sure you get them at Albertsons stores during September, so you can help make a difference for kids in your area.
Look for tags on participating items in store. Some participating brands include:
- Bayer, Rubbermaid, Campbell’s, Pepperidge Farms, Unilever, ConAgra, Kellogg’s, Pepsi, Sharpie, and more. (See more participating brands here.)
Every little bit helps! You can also choose to donate at the register! Add $1, $5, or any dollar amount to your purchase as a donation.
Head on over to your local Albertsons and participate in this worthy cause! Thanks, everyone!
