Introducing the McCrory Family

We’ve been talking all about the 2nd Annual fab Pay it Forward Garage Sale that is quickly approaching… and we know it’ll be huge, so we decided to have YOU, our readers, nominate a 3rd family for us to donate to.

This decision was the easiest, yet most difficult decision to make. Easiest, because the sheer volume of nominations for the particular family we chose and their heart-wrenching story made choosing them a no brainer. And yet the decision was so difficult to make because choosing them meant we could not help any of the other nominated families in need that were so very deserving.

So while we are frustrated we could not choose every last family nominated, we hope once you hear about the McCrory family, you will join with us in supporting them.

Meet Cyrus, Jonie, Jackson, Thea and Elsa McCrory.

Last month, after suffering a seizure and being rushed to the ER, doctors found a stage 2 Astro Cytoma tumor on Cyrus’ brain. He has had two surgeries in the past month in attempts to remove the tumor. While both surgeries went well, they were not able to remove the entire tumor. His prognosis is uncertain. The next step is radiation.

Cyrus was self-employed, and they not only have no health insurance, but due to his condition he has obviously been unable to work. Their income has come to a screeching halt, leaving Jonie in charge of caring for three small children and an extremely sick husband, while attempting to stay afloat financially. That is a battle she will lose without help. And based on what the numerous emails we received said, he is a wonderful man very deserving of help:

“Jonie and Cyrus McCrory are the kind of people who would drop what they are doing to help anyone out. They genuinely care about people and have such kind, generous, and loving hearts.”

“(Cyrus) puts others before himself.  He reaches out to the hurt and broken. He yields his rights and comforts so that others can receive blessings.”

“This precious family has blessed so many. His wisdom and gifts have been poured out into the lives of so many.”

So you asked us to help them, and we want to. But we can’t do it without you!! In order to help the McCrorys as well as Joan and Sean’s families, we need:

I’m going to be gone that weekend, but I would like to bring some items to donate. Could I drop them off somewhere on Thursday? Thanks.

    • Amber

Just added the link for the drop-off info!

      • AJ

I’m not sure if you’re asking to drop them off this Thurs. or next, but the post says to please drop them off by Wed. the 7th. If you need to drop them off next Thurs., we will for sure still take them! Thanks Marie!

  • Sophie

More info to come on baked goods, etc? Cause that is where I am all in!!

    • Amber

      Sophie,
We will take baked good drop-offs at any of the locations the night before the sale or at the sale location the morning of the sale. But given the fact that you should be resting in bed, we are more than willing to come to you to retrieve them!!

  • Wendi

I can’t thank you fabulous gals enough for the compassion and generosity that you are providing for these families who are struggling with incomprehensible situations. I am so excited to do my part to pitch in! And as a friend of the McCrorys, I thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.

  • Kristi

Is there any way that people outside of your location can help?

    • Amber

Absolutely!! We are posting raffle info tomorrow. We will be selling raffle tickets via Paypal and also accepting straight donations via Paypal as well. We will have a non-local specific raffle (so you don’t win a massage in Boise when you live in California!), so our non-local readers can enter to win great prizes they can actually use (ie. a target gift card).

So stay tuned! And thanks so much for asking!! We meant to get raffle info up sooner, but with the decision to add a 3rd family, that post had to be pushed back!

I would like to donate some baked goods. Where would I do that and when?

    • Cathy

You could take them to the sale that morning, or bring them to any one of the drop off locations the night before. 😉 THANKS Wendy!

Hey all, I don’t know if anyone is still interested, but Cyrus was declared Cancer Free last week!! He and his family still have a long road to go, but this is such fantastic news, I couldn’t resist sharing!
