The reviews (and description) are saying this is pure chicory … there is no coffee in it. Apparently people like to add this to their coffee? Just FYI.

Chicory is a plant that is used a replacement for coffee. It’s actually heathier than coffee and I’m pretty sure has no caffeine. But no, you don’t add it to coffee, you use it instead. Tastes about the same, just comes from a plant instead of a bean 🙂

I was mistaken. Lol! After looking at it, yes you are right, this is pure chicory. A lot of times it is sold already mixed into coffee. This you would mix in yourself. I’m glad I read your comment before purchasing! I would have been upset. Lol.

Yeah, I was going to point out the same thing. If you ever buy “New Orleans style” coffees, like Cafe du Monde, they have chicory already in them. So you would buy this product if you wanted to mix up your own New Orleans-style blend (or, yes, you can drink it straight, and some people do).

If you’re super dedicated to getting chicory in your coffee, you can make your own out of dandelion (or endive or anything in that family) roots. You just have to roast them until they’re dried out and very dark and then grind them up. I think it’s rather a lot of work, and I just chop my dandelion roots up into stew or whatever instead, but it’s always nice to put the weeds to work, I think.

Thanks for the heads up. I might have jumped on this without looking at the details, and then been unhappy with myself. I accidentally bought some pure chicory coffee once before and didn’t much care for it. I do like the regular Community Coffee though.
