Homemade Thousand Island Dressing!! Only Three Ingredients!

Homemade Thousand Island is something I’ve been making since I was in my early teens. My uncle spent some time working at a local restaurant and he learned the secret behind their Thousand Island….it’s homemade!! Why? Because it’s so much cheaper than buying it in the store. We usually have all the ingredients already in our fridge and it takes less than a minute to put together!

Here’s how to do it yourself….

Here’s your ingredient list..

  • Mayonnaise (I used the kind made with olive oil)
  • Ketchup
  • Pickles (or relish, whatever you have on hand)

I didn’t use measurements because I only wanted enough for a single salad. So, just use equal parts mayo and ketchup. Then, take a pickle and dice it into small pieces. Add it to your mixture. If you have relish, you can skip the dicing and add a bit to your dressing. You can add as much or as little as you like. It’s up to you. Next, take all three ingredients and mix thoroughly. That’s all there is to it!

Simply drizzle it on top of your salad and you’re ready to roll!

There are some variations you can try if you’re feeling adventurous…add cooked and chopped bacon, add a chopped boiled egg, or use spicy ketchup to give the dressing a kick! Just remember, adding a chopped boiled egg and bacon will lessen the storage time to a few days.

If you have any left overs, simply cover it (or put it in a jar) and store it in the refrigerator.
