Have You Tried Proactiv?

This is something I’ve always thought about doing, but never have… I guess I just don’t know enough about the system.  Has anyone tried it before?  What did you think?  All I know is that when I was 15, no one told me I’d still have zits 20 years later!

I’m intrigued by the offer though.  Not only will you get a 30 day supply shipped for $19.95, you’ll aslo get some free gifts!  I’m thinking of giving it a try and would love your opinions!

You can check it out too… just click on the image or HERE!

I ordered ProActiv a month or two before I got married and my skin was the clearest it had ever been on the day I got married. I LOVE ProActiv. If you use it as directed, it totally works. It’s painful to pay as much as it costs, but I’ll never use anything else.

ProActiv is great stuff … My face was completely zit-free while I used it, but unfortunately my skin is so sensitive that it felt burn-y when I used it so I had to stop … They have a sensitive-skin line, but even that was a bit too harsh … My pre-teen son is starting to get little zits around his nose, and I’m thinking about getting him some ProActiv to prevent some of the major break-outs.

I did not do well with ProActiv because my skin is so sensitive. My face burned and became very, very dry. I guess everyone is different and hopefully it will work for you!

Just wanted to let you know that I did not have great luck with this system . It dried out my skin so much that it started to flake . My face also burned and became very tight. They tell you to use it once a day for a week and then increase to twice a day, luckily I never even made it to increasing it to twice a day I really would have been hurting. I guess this system would be great if you have super oily skin.

I have used it for years. but I still have acney just not as bad as I use too. It works but is very exspensive about 65 dollars for three months. Recently I went to a demotologist and she said if you have adult acney they can put you on an antibiodic for six month that would clear it up. You just can’t be on t he antibiodic if you are pregnant or nursing. I think this is a cheeper rought.

Proactiv is meant to be used if you have severe skin blemishes (acne ALL over your face). If you get a zit here and there, that is not the best candidate to use Proactiv. It contains benzoyl peroxide, which can dry out your skin. If you have a few zits here and there I would just make sure you are using a face wash twice a day, using an exfoliator 2-3 times a week depending on skin type, and same with skin masks. All this helps clean out pores, which can help minimize break outs. You might just have too much oil on your skin, so look for an oily skincare system and a mask to help remove excess oil.

I have used it for the last year and love it! At first my skin did dry out but I changed the moisturizer that I use at night and that fixed the problem also they now have a sensitive skin solution as well. I use mine set very sparingly so I don’t have to replace every three months. I replace it every 4 months. It about 65 dollars every 4 months so over a year that ends up being 16.25 a month. My acne is way better. I to didn’t really get acne until now. But I love it. If you use as it says then you should be fine. I hope it works for you.

Used it for many years, really clears up your face. Some say it dried it out, it can but they have an additional moisturizer that is good. There face mask is the best. If you were to just get one item the face mask it the best.

This was the only thing that worked on my face in my 20’s. I would recommend this to everyone. IT’s worth the money.

  • Heather F

I’ve used to use it on and off from when I was a teenager. I’ve been to about 3 dermotologists and all said they didn’t recommend it HOWEVER I’m sure they aren’t going to endorse a product that someone else is making money off of….?
I am having great results with this face wash the derm prescribed for and the best thing is its only $10 and lasts about 2 months. 🙂

I’ve used proactive for years. LOVE IT! One thing that’s good to know is that when you typically order on their offers you have to sign up for the automatic shipment plan that ships every month or every other month. You can cancel at any time. I cancel EVERY time because they’ll send you a coupon in the mail for a 30 day supply for 5.95 EVERY time. 🙂

  • Becky Ruths

I used it for the 30 day supply, which actually lasted about 2 months, but when I stopped using it, my acne came back worse than ever before…

  • Jaime

I haven’t tried proactive but I have been using this last year a acne face wash by Avon, only 4.99. It says to use once a day, but I use it twice and then they have a face lotion with SPF 15, which is a bit more but you can always wait for it to go on sale for about 10.00. I was going to have to go back to the Dr. but this kept my break outs at bay.

I used it for a couple years… the first year it worked great. Then I think my face got used to it, and my skin got desensitized and my acne became worse than ever. So… I finally went to the dermatologist and her plan made me feel beautiful again! This plan worked so well that I recommend it to everyone!! (I also asked about the face toner that proactiv has, and she said this was unnecessary – it just dries your skin out more.)

    Morning:
*benzoyl peroxide face wash (I use AcneFree – cheaper than Proactiv and same results) – I use this in the shower. Make sure you wash for a full minute, and then leave it on for another minute or two while you shave or wash your body.
*benzoyl peroxide (10%) face cream (I’ve used both Clearasil and Clean & Clear) – if you have sensitive skin, use this sparingly and concentrate it on the acne-prone regions. A little goes a long way. You may want to begin this every other day.
*face lotion w/ SPF – Use a lotion that is noncomodogenic (doesn’t clog pores) and face-specific. I use Aveeno Positively Radiant, which is kind of expensive – it makes my [sensitive] skin never dry out and I don’t need to worry [as much] about putting oily sunscreen on my face.

    Evening:
*salicylic acid face wash – anything will do. I use Aveeno because it makes my skin feel great and never dries it out.

I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t even have to wash my face every night anymore… like those nights I barely brush my teeth I’m so tired.

Also, for the first couple months on the “plan” from the dermatologist, she did a few treatments (called extractions… she actually popped my zits for me… an unpleasant experience.) and had me on an antibiotic gel at night. Once the gel (a prescription that I got a free sample of) ran out, I continued without it and now I LOVE MY SKIN! I still get the occasional zit or two (probably due to pregnancy hormones…) but it was so worth it to go to the dermatologist. Honestly, I would have paid her double what she charged because I am so happy with the results. I’m with you – I was never told I could still have acne as an adult… let alone WORSE acne as an adult!

One more thing – I really got turned off from Proactiv when I tried to cancel and they kept me on the phone for 10 more minutes trying to get me to go to a different strength, or different delivery schedule, etc. It is expensive! It also made my skin easily irritated.

Let me know if you have any questions – I’d love to help if I can! 🙂

Hi everyone.I would hate to sound rude so please don’t think I am.I am a licensed Ethetician have worked with dr’s for years ance of all types is one of the things I am best at. I do want to let you all know a few things about this product it is made to only suppress it while you use it.Saddly it does not even do that for many people .It is made so that the min. you stop using it the acne comes back. Most that it didn’t it was a hormone flutation. I have had many clients that used it for years even while I treated them( I believe the client has a right to choose as long as they are informed) then to finally try out what I had been asking them to do to then find out they had been wasting there hard earned money. As far as antibotics there are benfits but they really harm you over time. My nefew was but on them plus other products that burned his skin(yes he tryed proactive) from his dermatolgist. I evaluated over the phone and with pictures sent him a skin care that did work, his skin was clear within a few weeks at 3 months the scars were going away. This is just one of the many cases I was privliged to help with. I am not saying this to drum up work or money. I am tired of people and young ones being mislead. As I read the comments my hart went out to many of you as I have heard all of this before. One more thing to know is you could have roseca. No you don’t need to take drugs to get it under conrol. If anyone would like help with there skin please email me I would love to help 🙂 You don’t have to have dry skin or red skin.Or if anyone has questions about anything. i wasn’t going to say much but I feel that it hurts (ance) people in so many ways emotionaly and even can hurt just to touch. My email is shicks64@gmail.com. I wish all of you the best. I don’t believe I know it all, but what I don’t I look up.I also know about wrinkles lol.Oh fyi they don’t tell you any more but if you cancel and ask they will send you your money back.thanks for listening with an open mind. I never had a zit in High School and then toward the end of college I started breaking out! I tried proactive for a couple months and it did nothing for me. My acne consisted of a zit or two here and there. I started using the Murad acne set and loved it! Those occasional zits went away and my skin felt great. I think it was a little more expensive than the proactive, but totally worth it 🙂 Hope that helps!

Everybody has acne for different reasons and what works for one might not work for another. Sometimes you need to go to a doctor. I used retin-a in high school and it worked wonders for me, so when my son started to break out I took him to see his doctor and he was given retin-a. Did absolutely nothing for him after the specified time period he was supposed to wait. Took him back in and he was given a topical antibiotic he uses at night and it works great. Proactive kinda helped him but was way to expensive.

I won’t get into the whole long story of my life lesson with Proactive, but I will just try to sum it up for you. I have had a great experience using proactive as well as an awful experience. I had used Pro Active for 7 years, It got me through Jr high and High School with clear skin. And I am very thankful for that. However eventually after using it for so long, I was no longer seeing the results that I had been getting in the past from it. So instead of wasting the money to pay for something that was no longer working on my skin, I stopped using it and tried to just use over the counter stuff. Worst thing I could possibly do was stop using it. I too believe that proactive suppresses acne. I’ve learned the hard way. My face became completely untouchable.. I had everything that you can imagine wrong with my skin.. Not just the acne anymore, but I got knots also known as Nodules, and cysts.. and my entire face was about to blow up. I cried forever and all the time.. my skin hurt so bad, and naturally I dropped off the face of the earth, wouldn’t let anyone see me.. it was just awful, and it hurts to even think of going back down that road.. really really long story short.. because I had suppressed my acne for 7 years, My family spent thousands and thousands of dollars to help me.. My aunts had me on a healthier eating diet, we paid for treatments done at Lauren Medi-spa (a complete and very expensive lifesaver). At the age of 20 I had moved out of my apartment, and quit both my jobs, to move back in with my mother, and hide from the world, for a good 8 months.. It took what seemed like forever to be presentable again. I am now 26 married, and have 2 kids and I still have the occasional acne, , and a few knots here and there, but I have never experienced anything like what my skin went through since. I have the scars that remind me everyday of my hard lesson learned. I am also not one of those lucky ones who birth control helps clear skin, even when i was pregnant I was not lucky enough to have the glowing clear skin.. (Nothin seems to agree with my skin type) In my own personal opinion I do not recommend such a product, or anything similar to the product. I have really sensitive skin, and Im very careful as to what I put on it.. cleansers and make up. And now my mission is just to get rid of the scars.. so that I can completely erase that time out of my life.. It was the worst thing someone could go through. If your really curious about the product, I would recommend talking to a doctor, or a dermatologist, and to see if you really need something that strong for your acne, they may have a simpler cure for you. If only I could go back and change my mind before I started using the product. and it may have just been my skin type.. but this was just my own personal experience, that I felt the need to share with you!!.. good luck in whatever you decide! =)

Mandy please let me help you.I read your comments and I think I may be able to help you with the scaring and when you break out hear and there. The nots were from it being suppressed.Birth control pill all of that may not be the root so they won’t work or the Dr’s may not have done a hormone panel which is very hard to do and read.It is not just blood work.I am so sorry for the days and nights you cried I have been the shoulder for many like yourself but I also helped them find relief.there is only one out of hundreds that I could not help but it was because of her crohn’s(I have help many with crohn’s) she was the one exception but I did keep her from scaring. I know the pain I have seen people going through from those horriable reminders. You have my email above. If I can’t help I can tell you honestly all it is an email. It is just one leap of faith 🙂
Remember you are a wonderful person and no matter what you have ones who love you. There is ways to fix or minimize the scars(worse case).
